    • To provide a color toner which is effective in mitigating contamination of a charging member, which is good at low temperature fixing in high-speed copying, and which is excellent in blocking resistance and electrification stability in continuous copying. Provided is a color toner containing at least a binder resin, a colorant, and a releasing agent, in which: (i) the binder resin contains at least a polyester unit; (ii) a weight average particle diameter of the color toner is greater than 6.5 μm and equal to or less than 11 μm; (iii) an average circularity A of particles in the color toner each having a circle-equivalent diameter of 3 μm or more satisfies the relationship of 0.915≦A≦0.960; (iv) a permeability B (%) of the color toner in a 45 vol % aqueous solution of methanol satisfies the relationship of 10≦B≦70; and (v) an endothermic curve obtained through differential thermal analysis (DSC) measurement of the color toner has one or multiple endothermic peaks in the temperature range of 30 to 200° C., and a temperature Tsc of the highest endothermic peak of the one or multiple endothermic peaks satisfies the relationship of 65° C.

    • A developer for developing an electrostatic latent image is formed from toner particles each comprising a binder resin and a colorant, inorganic fine powder having a number-average particle size of 4-80 nm based on primary particles, and electroconductive fine powder. The developer is characterized by having a number-basis particle size distribution in the range of 0.60-159.21 &mgr;m including 15-60% by number of particles in the range of 1.00-2.00 &mgr;m, and 15-70% by number of particles in the range of 3.00-8.96 &mgr;m, each particle size range including its lower limit and excluding its upper limit. As a result of inclusion an appropriate amount of the electroconductive fine powder represented by the particle size fraction of 1.00-2.00 &mgr;m, the developer is suitably used in an image forming method including a contact charging step of charging the image-bearing member based on the direct injection charging mechanism and also in an image forming method including a developing-cleaning step of developing the electrostatic latent image and recovering the developer remaining on the image-bearing member after the transfer step.

    • A positively chargeable toner suitable to be carried on a cylindrical developer-carrying member having a resinous surface for developing an electrostatic latent image is formed from a composition including a binder resin, an imidazole compound and a colorant. The binder resin comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of (i) a mixture of vinyl resin having a carboxyl group and a vinyl resin having a glycidyl group, (ii) a vinyl resin having both a carboxyl group and a glycidyl group, and (iii) a vinyl resin having a carboxyl group and a glycidyl group in a form reacted with each other. The imidazole compound is a compound having an imidazo unit represented by formula (1) below: wherein R1-R4 independently denote hydrogen or a substituent as specified. In some cases, two or more such imidazole units can be included in a combined form to provide the imidazole compound. The imidazole compound is effective for promoting a crosslinking reaction between the carboxyl group and the glycidyl group to provide the toner with improved fixability and anti-offset property in combination.

    • An electrophotographic toner is formed of a resinous composition including a binder resin and a wax (A). The wax (A) contains at least 92 wt. % thereof of n (normal)-paraffin comprising a plurality of n-paraffin species having different numbers of carbon atoms, and provides a DSC (differential scanning calorimetry)-heat-absorption curve exhibiting a maximum heat-absorption peak showing a peaktop temperature of 70-90° C. and a half-value width of at most 12° C. As a result of the n-paraffin-rich characteristic and the DSC-thermal characteristic, the wax can exhibit an improved fixability-improving effect without showing an excessive plasticizing effect, whereby the toner can exhibit good fixability as well as good flowability and storage stability.
