摘要： An apparatus (10) for analyzing the composition of bodily fluid. The apparatus comprises a fluid handling network including a patient end (11) configured to maintain fluid communication with a bodily fluid in a patient and at least one pump (203) intermittently operable to draw a sample of bodily fluid from the patient. The apparatus further comprises a fluid analyzer (140) positioned to analyze at least a portion of the sample and measure the presence of two or more analytes . Also disclosed is a method for analyzing the composition of a bodily fluid in a patient. The method comprises drawing a sample of the bodily fluid of the patient through a fluid handling network configured to maintain fluid communication with a bodily fluid in a patient. The method further comprises analyzing the at least a portion of the sample in a fluid analyzer to estimate the concentration of two or more analytes in the sample. Disclosed are further means for separating plasma and serum and a spectroscopic analyzer.

摘要： A central venous catheter comprises an ultrasound assembly. In one arrangement, the radiating member is used to remove a blockage from the central venous catheter. In another arrangement, inserting an ultrasound assembly into a central venous catheter. The ultrasound assembly comprises an ultrasound radiating member mounted on an elongate support structure. The method further comprises positioning the ultrasound assembly within the central venous catheter such that the ultrasound radiating member is adjacent to a deposited material formed on a portion of the central venous catheter. The method further comprises supplying an electrical current to the ultrasound radiating member to expose the deposited material to ultrasonic energy. The method further comprises passing a therapeutic compound through the central venous catheter to expose the deposited material to the therapeutic compound simultaneously with ultrasonic energy.

摘要： A device and method are provided for use with a non-invasive optical measurement system. A site selector (100) is secured to a patient's forearm, such as by a fastening strap (112), thereby isolating a measurement site on the patient's skin for determination of blood glucose levels. The site selector attaches to a thermal mass window of the spectrometer and thus forms an interface between the patient's skin and the thermal mass window. Protrusions (108, 108') and raised sections (110, 110') can facilitate the attachment. When the spectrometer must be temporarily removed from the patient's skin the site selector is left secured to the forearm so as to maintain a consistent measurement site on the skin. When the spectrometer is later reattached to the patient, the site selector will again form an interface between the gradient spectrometer and the same location of skin as before.

摘要： A system for infusing liquid to a body includes an infusion device, a network interface with a cell phone and wireless link and a network server system capable of communication with the infusion device through the network interface. The server system has access to a file of information specific to the controller for the infusion device. The infusion device includes a source of infusion fluid, a delivery port, a pump between the source of infusion fluid and the delivery port and a controller capable of programmable pump rate and sequence, A method for infusing liquid to a body includes controlling infusion using a programmable controller, establishing a file of information specific to the controller accessible to an extended area network server system and remoteiy transmitting commands to the controller. The information specific to the controller in the file is amended from a control terminal remote from the body. Operating instructions responsive to the updated information in the file are provided over an extended area network to a programmable two-way communication device. The device is capable of communication with the controller to forward operating commands. Requests for a bolus or a basal rate change are made through input to the two-way communication device which responds with commands transmitted over the wireless link to the controller consistent with the operating instructions from the server system. Network access through a monitoring terminal to the incidents of amending information specific to the controller is used for generating payments for the incidents of amending information specific to the controller accessed by the monitoring terminal.
