摘要： A transversely pleated, longitudinally heat-shrinkable tape is made from a heat-shrinkable polymeric film. One side of the tape may be adhesive-coated, and the other side may be coated with a thermochromic paint. The tape is wrapped around a substrate, and is particularly adapted, by reason of the pleats, to be wrapped around a substrate of non-uniform cross-section, e.g. a splice in a telephone cable. On heating the tape to its recovery temperature, the pleats disappear and the tape shrinks longitudinally to tightly cover the substrate. The tape may additionally comprise integral heating means.

The improvement comprises the addition to the thermochromic paint of a non-thermochromic compound selected from the group consisting of the sulfates, hydrated sulfates and nitrides of boron, aluminum, tin, lead, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, zinc and phosphorus; the sulfides and hydrated sulfides of boron, aluminum, bismuth and phosphorus; the oxides and hydrated oxides of boron, arsenic, antimony and phosphorus and the salts, organic compounds and free acids of the oxyanions of boron, arsenic, antimony and phosphorus.

摘要： Recoverability is induced into a material by a first expansion which is unidirectional but uniform, and then by a second expansion which produces pleats, and may increase in extent across the surface of the material. The material can be used to form pipe branch-offs, pipe bends or used as a tape for sealing pipe branch-offs or splice cases. A material for producing a branch-off comprises a first portion 1, and a second portion 2 which has been differentially expanded by pleating. The material is wrapped-around to form a tube; the portion 2 splays out to form a collar which can overly a hole in a main conduit, the portion 1 serving as a branch-off conduit.

The transparent layer(230) protects the color development layer(220) and checks a color development phenomenon taking place at the color development layer(220). When a user is holding a mobile communication terminal, heat of the user's hand is transferred to the body part(110), so that a color of the color development layer is changed.
