摘要： One embodiment is directed to a system for providing surgical access across a wall of a tissue structure, comprising a delivery member having proximal and distal ends; a first helical member having proximal and distal ends and a helical shape, the proximal end coupled to the delivery member distal end, the distal end extending distally of the delivery member distal end; an anchor member removably coupled to the helical member distal end; and a suture member coupled distally to a portion of the anchor member and extending proximally to a position wherein at least a portion of it may be freely manipulated by an operator; wherein upon rotation of the delivery member in a first direction, the first helical member and coupled anchor member are advanced across at least a portion of the wall of the tissue structure, pulling along the distal portion of the suture member in a deployed suture pattern which remains coupled to the anchor member, the deployed suture pattern being characterized in that it is substantially helical and represents a number of helical loops encapsulated by the wall of the tissue structure that is greater than about one helical loop, and is less than about three helical loops.

摘要： A chip mounting device which is hereinafter also referred to as an "interconnection preform placement device", includes a retaining member having a predefined pattern of holes in which are positioned preforms of joint-forming material such as solder. Each preform is of a predefined configuration and has a height or length greater than is cross-sectional dimension. The preform retains its general configuration after the interconnection or soldering process to form a resilient joint which is more capable of withstanding stress, strain and fatigue. A method of forming resilient interconnections comprises placing the interconnection preform placement device between parallel patterns of electrically conductive elements, such as the conductive pads on an electronic component and a circuit board, and effecting the bonding of the conductive elements with the preforms.

摘要： The invention relates to a novel case for enclosing a short length of at least one elongate substrate, especially a cable splice. The case has a wrap-around body section and end sections comprising deformable sealing members which in use are deformed into a configuration in which an increase in pressure within the case increases the forces maintaining the sealing members in contact with the substrate. Preferably the case includes heating means which is used to heat the sealing members and to activate a hot melt adhesive placed thereon. The cases are particularly useful for encapsulating splices in pressurized telephone cables.

摘要： One embodiment is directed to a method for providing surgical access across a wall of a tissue structure, comprising: installing a guiding member into the wall of the tissue structure to a desired guiding depth; using the installed guiding member as a positional guide, advancing a helical member into the wall of the tissue to a desired helical member depth, the helical member comprising a helical member distal end removably coupled to an anchor member which is coupled to a distal end of a suture member, such that advancing the helical member into the wall causes the anchor member to be advanced into the wall and to pull a distal portion of the suture member along with the anchor member into the wall to substantially encapsulate a number of helical loops of suture member that is greater than about 1 loop and less than about 3 loops; withdrawing the helical member from the wall of the tissue structure, leaving the anchor member in a deployed configuration decoupled from the helical member and coupled to at least a portion of the wall of the tissue structure; and tensioning the suture member to apply a load to the deployed anchor member.

摘要： A low power, low cost distributed digital loop (DDL) carrier system that combines television and voice telephone signal transmission over coaxial cables. The DDL system employs a passive/active tap module (114) that controls the steering of the video and telephone signals. The high frequency down stream telephone signal is not processed until a routing terminator (110) converts it to lower frequency signal for transmission in the lower frequency subsplit channel. The telephone signal is then transmitted back up through the subsplit where the active circuitry of each tap intercepts the telephone signal, selects the needed signal and transmits it down to a network interface unit (120) located at the subscriber premises.

The system uses an electronic memory/display unit (24) which preserves the convenience of printed material, but which has the advantages of a computer display. The system utilizes a cable television (CATV) network to distribute the information. Data are transmitted over the system from a newspaper publication facility (2). The newspaper publication facility is provided with a data processing facility (4) that transmits newspaper data (6) to a satellite transmitting facility (8). The transmitted data are provided to a cable television satellite receiving station (12) by way of satellite link (14). Signal generators (16) are coupled to the satellite link and provide appropriate signals to a CATV network transmission facility (18). 摘要： A dispenser for dispensing an index matching coating material onto an end of an optical fiber to be terminated includes a reservoir formed by a floor and sidewalls with a small portion of the index matching coating material being disposed on a top surface of the floor. An interior perimeter shape of the sidewalls is registrable with an external perimeter shape of an optical fiber contact to which the optical fiber is secured which allows the index matching material to be conveniently disposed on an end of the optical fiber by simply inserting the optical fiber contact into the reservoir.
