    • A device for coding picture data by compression has a button circuit and a controller. When a button included in the button circuit is pushed by hand to enter a still picture mode command, the controller assigns a still picture mode to a group of pictures (GOP) appearing after the input of the command. For the GOP to be processed in the still picture mode, the controller substitutes an I picture (Intra-Picture) for at least one P picture (Predictive-Picture) included in the preceding GOP processed in a moving picture mode. At the same time, the controller sends to a multiplexer, information representative of the replacement of the picture type and information representative of the assignment of the still picture mode to the GOP. The multiplexer multiplexes such information in the preselected position of an output data format. On the other hand, a device for reproducing the picture data by expansion has a demultiplexer and a controller. The demultiplexer feeds to the controller the information representative of the still picture mode and the information representative of the replacement of the picture type. In response, the controller causes a decoder and following circuitry to decode the I picture data and write the resulting data in a first or a second predictor. A video signal representative of a still picture based on the stored picture data is output via a digital-to-analog converter.

    • In an image processing device, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) transforms an image generated by an imaging device and having a high pixel density to a corresponding digital image signal. A YC processor processes the digital image signal to output an image signal in the form of a luminance signal and chrominance signals. A memory controller includes an address generator capable of generating a particular address signal for thinning, or reducing, the image signal. The address signal is fed to a frame memory. When the image signal is written to or read out of the frame memory, an image represented by the image signal is thinned by the address signal. The thinned image data are coded by a compander and then written to a memory card or reproduced by a playback circuit. The reproduced image signal appears on a video monitor or similar display.

    • A monitoring method capable of properly collectively managing the operating states and operation records of a group of injection molding machines. Monitor data sets delivered from the individual injection molding machines are cyclically detected by means of a processor of a monitor unit, and a plurality of sets of up-to-date monitor data for the individual injection molding machines are renewably loaded into a plurality of data tables. When the preset time of a timer associated with any one of the injection molding machines is up, or when the current injection frequency reaches a predetermined frequency, it is concluded that the monitor data output timing is reached, and whether the monitor data should be printed or displayed on a screen is further determined. In a print process or display process, the oldest data group, which includes the oldest monitor data set and the next oldest monitor data set or a combination of two these data sets and calculated monitor data variations associated therewith, is first printed or displayed, and similar data groups are successively printed or displayed by priority of oldness.
