    • A method and apparatus for routing a clock tree in an integrated circuit device. Prior art clock trees were routed entirely on an integrated circuit device, thereby increasing the size, complexity, and cost of the integrated circuit. The present invention provides for a design wherein the clock tree is partitioned into one or more local clock trees and a global clock tree. A local clock tree is defined as a cluster of clock sinks coupled together. The global clock tree is defined as the interconnect between the local clock tree and the clock source. The local clock tree is routed on a device layer of the integrated circuit. The global clock tree is routed on a package layer of the integrated circuit package. The package layer is coupled to the device layer through a plurality of contacts.

    • A branched stent graft comprises a main body portion and a branch portion. Each of the main body portion and the branch portion includes a stent and a tubular graft.     • The invention is direct to a piezoelectric microcantilever for static contact and dynamic noncontact atomic force microscopy which may be carried out in solution. The piezoelectric microcantilever, which includes a piezoelectric layer and a non-piezoelectric layer is capable of self actuation and detection. The piezoelectric layer may be constructed from a lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate (Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3)0.65—(PbTiO3)0.35(PMN0.65-PT0.35)(PMN-PT), zirconate titanate (PZT)/SiO2 or from any lead-free piezoelectric materials such as doped sodium-potassium niobate-lithium niobate. The piezoelectric layers of the microcantilevers may have dielectric constants of from 1600-3000 and thicknesses below 10 μm. Also disclosed are methods for fabricating microcantilever sensors and methods for atomic force microscopy employing the microcantilevers.

    • An optical communication system includes a first wavelength filter, a bidirectional amplifier, and a second wavelength filter.     • A direct retrying method in a CDMA system based on macro diversity is provided. The conditions for direct retrying are determined. The number of the cells, which are previously requested for an admission, is obtained. The cells are determined by using the cell information designed by a cell network as an auxiliary decision. The selected cells having the same coverage are re-divided to obtain different sets of the cells. One cell set is selected from the different cell sets as a target cell set of the direct retrying, and the resources are requested from all of the cells in the target cell set of the direct retrying. If the admission of one cell is successful, the direct retrying is successful. The method significantly increases a success rate of direct retrying, decreases the number of the frequency switching times after the mobile station enters a dedicated channel, and optimizes the system performance.

    • An integrated circuit package which contains an integrated circuit that is mounted to a plurality of contact pads located on a top surface of a substrate. The package may also have a number of capacitors that are mounted to the contact pads. The substrate has an internal first power plane and an internal first ground plane located adjacent to the top surface and coupled to the contact pads by a plurality of vias. The power and ground planes are coupled to the capacitors and the integrated circuit, such that the capacitors filter power that is provided to the circuit. Locating the power and ground planes near the top surface minimizes the length of the vias and lowers the self inductance of the package. The contact pads of the capacitors may be arranged in alternating rows of ground and power to increase the mutual inductance and lower the effective inductance of the package. The package has additional power/ground planes and layers of signal routing traces located between the first ground plane and the bottom surface to couple the contact pads with a plurality of pins that extend from the bottom surface of the package. The first power and ground planes are separated by a dielectric spacing that is significantly smaller than the dielectric spacing separating the other planes and traces. The smaller dielectric spacing increases the capacitance and reduces the effective inductance of the substrate to reduce the switching noise of the integrated circuit.
