    • A solid-state image pickup apparatus includes: a pixel portion in which at least one pixel with a photo-electric conversion element is arranged; an analog/digital converter comprising: a delay circuit in which delay elements are connected in multiple stages, the delay elements having a delay amount in accordance with a difference between an output voltage that is output from the pixel portion for every pixel and a predetermined reference voltage; and a decoder portion that, after detecting a number of circulations, in the delay circuit, of a pulse propagating in the delay circuit and a number of stages, of the delay elements connected in multiple stages, through which the pulse has propagated, outputs a digital signal based on the detected number of circulations and stages for each of the pixels; and a control circuit which controls the analog/digital converter so as to modify a number of bits of the digital signal that is output from the analog/digital converter, in accordance with on a preset shooting mode, in which the control circuit modifies a period where the pulse propagates in the delay circuit.

    • Female and male connectors (10, 20) are provided on body and trim panels (1, 5), respectively. A supporting plate (35) is raised from the trim panel (5), and a loose hole (36) is formed in the supporting plate (35). A leg (31) projects from a bottom end of the male connector (20) and a fastening plate (32) is at the leading end of the leg (31). The leg (31) is inserted into the loose hole (36) and the fastening plate (32) engages surface areas adjacent the loose hole (36). A guiding receptacle (50) is provided on the bottom surface of a holder (11) of the female connector (10). The leg (31) moves in the loose hole (36) of the supporting plate (35) during connection to correct displacement.

    • A connector is provided to enhance a force of a retainer for locking terminal fittings. The connector has a housing 1 formed with a retainer mount hole 12. A retainer 13 is provided for insertion into the retainer mount hole 12. Locking projections 15 are formed on the retainer 13 and are engaged with terminal fittings 16, to prevent the terminal fittings from coming out of the housing 1. End locking portions 19 are provided at the opposite ends of the retainer 13, and intermediate locking portions 20 are provided between the end locking portions 19. The female housing 1 is provided with end and intermediate receiving portions 21, 22 corresponding to the end and intermediate locking portions 19, 20. Partial and full locking portions 23, 24 for holding the retainer 13 in its partial and full locking positions are formed in the end and intermediate receiving portions 21, 22. If the retainer 13 has a long width, its force to lock the terminal fittings may be reduced at and near the center of the female housing 1. However, since the corresponding pairs of locking portions and receiving portions are provided in intermediate positions, a sufficient locking force can be ensured.

    • A terminal is provided for secure electrical connection to a shielded cable. The outer conductor 52 of the cable 50 is exposed and folded onto the sheath. A folded portion 55 is placed on a bottom portion 48 of the terminal while a bottom projection 61 at the bottom portion 48 of an outer terminal 40 bites into the folded portion. A crimping piece 46 of the outer terminal 40 is brought into close contact with the outer surface of the folded portion 55 and an upper projection 62 on the crimping piece 46 bites into a sheath 54 of the folded portion 55. A crimping piece 47 is brought into close contact with the outer surface of the folded portion 55 and the end thereof is placed on that of the crimping piece 46. The outer crimping portion 45 squeezes the sheath 54 and is crimped while being held in close contact with the sheath 54 beneath the folded portion 55, and the two projections 61, 62 bite into the sheath 54. Since the folded portion 55 and the outer crimping portion 45 are electrically connected to a sufficient degree and a sufficient fastening force can be obtained, a stable electrical connection can be established.
