    • A tuner circuit and a method of designing a tuner circuit for removing a buffer circuit for video drive for increasing drive current capacitance added to an output terminal is provided, unlike a buffer for small-current drive installed in a tuner circuit. The method of designing a tuner circuit has a buffer installed in an integrated circuit (IC) of small-current drive in a video output terminal, and includes an RF converting portion, a tuning portion and a demodulation portion, in which a video output signal of the buffer in IC is input to an input circuit for processing a signal without an external buffer for drive, and the amount of attenuation of a signal at high frequency due to small drive current is measured to improve a frequency characteristic of a video signal in the tuner circuit in proportion to the amount of attenuation. Thus, an additional buffer for drive is not required, so that the number of devices is reduced, to thereby lower the material costs.

    • A magnetic recording and reproduction apparatus having a recording characteristic correction function corrects a recording characteristic according to characteristics of tape and head mechanism, to provide an optimal recording condition. The apparatus of the present invention records a test signal for measuring the characteristics of the tape and the head mechanism on tape, reproduces the recorded test signal, and then obtains a recording level at the time when reproduced output is maximized and a sideband level at the time when a ratio of a carrier component and a lower sideband component reaches a predetermined target value, respectively. Accordingly, an input video signal is modulated according to the obtained results. Thus, an effect is provided so that a signal can be recorded in an optimal recording condition irrespective of a deviation of the tape and the head.

    • A method for detecting a synchronous signal contained in an input image signal is provided. In the method, horizontal and vertical periods are established during which horizontal and vertical synchronous signal pulses contained in the input image signal are counted, respectively. Then, minimum and maximum horizontal values which correspond to the horizontal synchronous signal pulses contained in the horizontal period are established, and minimum and maximum vertical values which correspond the vertical synchronous signal pulses contained in the vertical period are established. Afterwards, the horizontal and vertical synchronous signal pulses are counted during the horizontal and vertical periods to respectively obtain first and second counted values. Then, the method determines if the first counted value is greater than or equal to the minimum horizontal value and less than or equal to the maximum horizontal value and determines if the second counted value is greater than or equal to the minimum vertical value and less than or equal to the maximum vertical value. Subsequently, the method determines than an actual synchronous signal is contained in the input image signal if the first counted value is greater than or equal to the minimum horizontal value and less than or equal to the maximum horizontal value and the second counted value is greater than or equal to the minimum vertical value and less than or equal to the maximum vertical value.

The control signal transmitting method, in a video player having an integrated circuit (IC) for processing video/audio signals and a microprocessor generating control signals to control the IC, has the steps of mapping serial data corresponding to possible control states of the video/audio signal processing IC, and storing the mapped data in a lookup table, reading serial data corresponding to a control state of the video/audio signal processing IC requested by the microprocessor, from the lookup table; and transmitting the serial data to the video/audio signal processing IC, being synchronized to a clock signal. Since in the control signal transmitting and receiving method the number of pins of an A/V IC decreases greatly compared to the conventional parallel transmitting and receiving method, the cost of manufacturing A/V ICs can be reduced to strengthen the competitiveness of products.
