    • An acceleration detector comprising a rotor rotatably supported within a housing and rotating against the urging force of a torsion spring based on acceleration, a pair of contact terminals contacting each other to be in an electrically connected state by rotation of the rotor at an inner end portion provided within the housing, and a supporting portion integrally formed with the rotor and supporting the torsion spring. The supporting portion is displaced by a predetermined amount in a predetermined direction from the rotary center of the rotor so that the spring effect center when torque is exerted on the torsion spring by rotation of the rotor substantially corresponds to the rotary center of the rotor. This construction of the acceleration detector produces the desired performance approximating the design value in an acceleration detector.

    • An abnormality detecting apparatus for an air temperature sensor which can detect an abnormality of the air temperature sensor with high reliability. The determination of abnormality is performed based on a detected temperature of the air temperature sensor when it is determined that the engine is in a sufficiently warmed state and when it is determined that the vehicle is stopped. The determination may be performed based on a temperature detected by the air temperature sensor during a predetermined period after a start of the engine when the start of the engine is detected and when it is determined that the engine is in the sufficiently warmed state. Additionally, the determination may be performed based on a temperature detected by the air temperature sensor after detecting a start of a cooling fan.

    • An automatic blood pressure measuring apparatus including an occluding device having a cuff to apply a pressure to a body member of a subject, and a blood-pressure determining device to determine a blood pressure according to a variation in a pulse wave in relation to a change in the cuff pressure. The apparatus comprises a detector for monitoring a blood circulatory system of the subject, and generating signals representing an abnormality associated with the circulatory system.     • In the present invention, the cooling water temperature sensor is diagnosed using a warming up counter WCT. The value of WCT is increased by the increment WCTINC at predetermined intervals after the engine is started. The increment value WCTINC is determined in accordance with the engine operating parameters affecting the rising rate of the cooling water temperature such as the cooling water temperature when the engine is started, the ambient temperature and the engine load. Therefore, the value of the warming up counter accurately corresponds to the actual cooling water temperature. In the diagnosis operation, when the value of the counter WCT reaches a predetermined setting value, the cooling water temperature detected by the cooling water temperature sensor is compared with a reference temperature which corresponds to the setting value of the warming up counter. If the detected cooling water temperature is lower than the reference temperature, the cooling water temperature sensor is determined to have failed. Since the warming up counter which increases at a rate corresponding to the actual rising rate of the cooling water temperature is used, an accurate diagnosis of the cooling water temperature sensor is performed.

    • An unlock control device has an unlocking mechanism to unlock an opening and closing member on the assumption that a radio signal transmitted by a legitimate portable transmitter has been received.
