    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming a pattern for a light guiding plate and a method of manufacturing a light guiding plate.
      SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a light guiding plate is characterized in comprising: (a) a step of preparing a plurality of light guiding plates, each of the light guiding plates being a mother substrate on which optical patterns are formed; (b) a step of disposing molding frames forming molding patterns on at least one surface of the light guiding plates; (c) a step of forming optical patterns corresponding to the molding patterns on the light guiding plates by hydrostatic pressing; and (d) a step of removing the molding frames disposed on at least one surface of the light guiding plates. Using the hydrostatic pressing, a highly accurate prism patterns can be simultaneously formed on a large number of light guiding plates, which makes compatible high convergence properties by the prism patterns and ultra thin profile by the pressure molding as well as making reduction in cost possible by mass production.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight assembly improved in luminance uniformity and reduced in volume and weight; and to provide a display device using it.
      SOLUTION: This backlight assembly includes: a light source assembly including light sources generating first light having first luminance uniformity; a substrate disposed above the light sources for emitting second light having second luminance uniformity higher than the first luminance uniformity by changing the traveling path of the first light; and a light reflecting-transmitting part disposed on the substrate for partially reflecting the second light toward the light source assembly in order to change the second light to third light having third luminance uniformity higher than the second luminance uniformity. Thereby, the luminance uniformity of light emitted from the backlight assembly is remarkably improved and the volume and the weight of the backlight assembly and this display device using it are significantly reduced by improving the luminance uniformity.
