    • PURPOSE:To detect and separate a string including defective battery while a high temperature battery is driven by inserting a guide containing an optical fiber, an endoscope and a cutter and so on from the wall surface of a cell container. CONSTITUTION:When generation of failure is detected by utilizing a voltage measurement wire, a chute-like support 8 is inserted from a through hole of the wall surface of a battery container 6, and the end is fitted to a receiving fitting 7. A hollow guide 9 provided with a cooling mechanism is inserted, and by operating a wire 14 so as to bend the guide, if necessary, so as to let the end reach the point of failure generation. An optical fiber 16 provided with an endoscope 17 and a measurement terminal 18 on the point is inserted into the guide 9, and while the location is verified from the outside, current is run, so as to detect a string including the defective battery by measuring the voltage of a cell 1. An optical fiber having a cutter is then inserted, and a fuse 4 or a conductor of its string is cut, and the defective battery is thus separated.

    • PURPOSE:To stably exhibit a fuse function for a long period by attaching a fuse main body consisted of a thin film made of conductive metal capable of being fused in a predetermined temperature region to an insulating substrate having heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:A fuse comprises a fuse main body 1 consisted of a thin film made of conductive metal, a narrow fused portion 2 formed in the middle, and an insulating substrate 3 made of ceramic or the like attached onto the back surface of the fuse main body 1. The main body 1 is consisted of the thin film made of an alloy having a low melting point such as pure Zn, an Al-Zn alloy and an Al-Mg alloy having a melting point within a temperature range of 380-440 deg.C so that it can be fused in the case where a temperature of a Na-S cell rises upon occurrence of an accident. Since the main body 1 is consisted of the thin film having a thickness of 100mum and a width of 10mum, it can exhibit an excellent fusing characteristic. Particularly, the fuse can serve as a current fuse because the fused portion 2 is narrower than the other portion.
