摘要： A system and procedure for posting and receiving location-based messages in a wireless communication based network. The system allows messages to be posted to specified users and to be associated with a particular location for which the message is pertinent. The messages can be left when a user passes a particular location, or the user can specify the location for the message even if not present at that location. The messages can then be displayed at a user interface of the recipient either when the recipient nears that location, or they can be reviewed in advance. Such location-based messages can be left either for another user or for the same user that is posting the method. The posted and received messages can be textual, audio, video, or pictorial messages and may be superimposed on computerized maps to make association between the message and the location more meaningful. Regardless, the disclosed system and methods allow messages to be associated with particular locations of interest.

摘要： A system and method for selectively enabling communications at a user interface using a user profile. The system and methods have particular utility to communication user interfaces in vehicles but may be used with other wireless user interfaces as well. In one embodiment, a user uses his user interface to define a user profile indicative of the types of communication channels he wishes to receive. This user profile is transmitted to a communications server and is used to filter all potential channels so that the user only has access to those channels potentially of interest. User preferences specified in the user profile may be, for example, topical, commercial, weather, traffic, or emergency in nature, and can be stored for future reference. The user may also prioritize preferred or received channels so that they are given precedence at his user interface. In this regard, activation of priority channels may present the user a notification informing the user of the priority channel and allowing him to join, or the priority channel may be automatically activated at the user interface without further user involvement. In an additional embodiment, the user profile may constitute or be supplemented by data indicative of the user interface in question. For example, a VIN number associated with a vehicular user interface can be used to filter for channels having pertinence to the vehicle in question.

摘要： A system and method for managing content between different client devices in various domains (such as vehicle, home, and person). The system and method includes a user interface, a wireless transceiver, and a controller. The user interface is used to receive an input form a user to change the presentation of the content from a first client device to a second client device. The wireless transceiver is capable of wirelessly transmitting the input from the user through the communication system. The controller is responsive to the input from the user and used to determine a content format for the second device. The controller may also be used for determining whether the second device has a network capability for accessing the content format. Depending on the determinations made by the controller, the controller will transmit a data message to the second device to activate access to the content if the second device has the network capability for accessing the content format. On the other hand, the controller will obtain the content and transmit the obtained content to the second device if the second device does not have the network capability for accessing the content format.

The content is restricted by associating the content with at least one requirement for vehicle information from a vehicle to which the content is provided. When restricted content is requested, a vehicle system obtains vehicle related information from the vehicle. The vehicle information is transferred to the vehicle system from the source, and the restricted content is transferred from the source to the vehicle system. The vehicle system, the source, or both determine whether the vehicle information meets the at least one requirement restricting the content. As long as the requirement for vehicle information is met, processing of the restricted content is allowed.
