CONSTITUTION:A transparent conductive film 2 and a photoconductive film 3 are sequentially coated over an effective photoconversion section at the inner face side of a face plate 1 made of a transparent glass, etc. where the open end of a glass valve 5 containing an electron gun structure 4 is encapsulated airtightly through an indium seal. A crystal board 7 of similar rectangular shape having the size slightly larger than that of the effective image pickup face section is adhered as a double refraction parallel planar transparent board at the front face of the face plate 1, where a cover 8 made of a light shielding material such as black molded resin having resiliency is applied on at least the side face 7a and the circumferential bevel section 7b of said crystal board 7. Consequently the productionability can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an image pick-up tube having high S/N and high resolution by employing rigid insulator ring for the body of ring-shaped signal electrode while coating a conductive film on a portion of the surface of the insulator where a signal is taken out to form a conductive path of small area. CONSTITUTION:The signal isn't required to be taken out from the entire circumference of a ring-shaped signal electrode and a rigid insulator such as ceramic ring 12 is employed as the body of said ring-shaped signal electrode, and for the purpose of ensure a minimum conductive path to be connected with a transparent conductive film on a face plate and to take out an image signal, condutive film 13 of Al, Au is coated on the surface of an insulator ring 12 and a small area facing against the ear section 14 of transparent conductive film 10 on the face plate. With such arrangement an image pick-up tube having high resolution and high S/N is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To enlarge an effective scanning beam area by arranging an accelerating electrode adjacent and widely opened to a mesh electrode of a frog type camera tube for scanning a photoconductive film surface with an electron beam. CONSTITUTION:Within a glass tube 1 are arranged successively a cathode 2, beam control electrode 3, focusing electrode 4, accelerating electrodes 5, 6, 14 and mesh electrode 15. At one end of the glass tube 1 opposed to the mesh electrode 15 are arranged a target ring 9 and photoconductive film 10. The accelerating electrode 14 adjacent the mesh electrode 15 is shaped to widely open toward the mesh electrode 15 side like a truncated cone having a vertical angle larger than the deflection angle. Thus the electron beam scans the photoconductive film 10 without being trapped by the electrode 14 to enlarge the effective scanning beam area S2.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption and weight by compounding the magnetic field due to a permanent magnet and the magnetic field due to a focusing coil to focus an electron beam. CONSTITUTION:A focusing magnetic field is generated by a ferrite magnet 7, a focusing coil 5b having relatively many windings in the neighborhood of a target to carry out photoelectric conversion and a focusing coil 5a having a relatively small number of windings through an overall length in the direction of a tube axis. The temperature characteristic of the ferrite magnets is compensated by adjusting the current in the focusing coil. In order to control the current value in the focusing coil corresponding to the variation of the temperature, a thermistor is inserted into a power supply circuit or the power supply circuit is constituted to make the output of color carrier in a single color pickup tube constant.

    • PURPOSE:To realize great increase in the utilization rate of the uniformity of bias light by providing a rough light-diffusing surface on the photoconductive film of a cylindrical electrode, and providing a regular reflection surface on the side of incoming light. CONSTITUTION:A third grid 9 serving as a focusing electrode is made of nichrome, a stainless steel or the like having luster, and has a cylindrical shape. A plural number of bias light insertion holes 9a used for introducing source light, are provided on a second grid 10 side of the grid 9. Bias light introduction routes 13, which lead light sent from the holes 9a to directions of a fourth grid 8, are formed across the cylindrical inner surface of the grid 9. The routes 13 are formed on a regular reflection surface 9b of high light-reflectance which reflects bias light in a regular manner. A light diffusing surface 9c whicd is made rough by etching or the like, is formed in front of the regular surface 9b, on the inner wall of the gride 8 side of the gride 9. Consequently, the utilization rate as well as the uniformity of bias light can be greatly increased.

    • PURPOSE:To improve color balance by holding the signal current of a video amplifying circuit at a constant electric current corresponding to fluctuations of the temperature of a face plate. CONSTITUTION:Gain control circuit 5 is constituted by providing variable resistance 6, fixed resistance 7 and temperature compensating element 8. In this constitution, an image pickup signal current increasing corresponding to a rise in the temperature of the face plate has its gain decreased by element 8 having negative temperature characteristics. For this purpose, the signal current obtained from the output terminal of preprocess amplifier 4 is held constant to improve color balance. In this case, a change in output when resistance 6 of amplifier 4 is adjusted is found, an increase or decrease in signal current is converted into a change in resistance value and the resistance value becomes equal to the total value of resistances 6 and 7 and element 8 by selecting the value of element 8, so that the signal current will be held constant. Thus, the color balance can be improved easily by using element 8.
