    • PURPOSE:To lessen the degrading of electron beam diameter and improve image quality of projection type CRT by using registration technique of a phosphor film and a light scattering preventive structure. CONSTITUTION:In the case the width of a phosphor film strip, the width of a void, the diameter of a light emitting spot, and the diameter of electron beam are defined respectively 11, 12, 13, and 14 in the figure, even if the phosphor plane is resolved at high resolution, the improvement of light emitting spot diameter 13 is not remarkable. Based on the experiment result, to suppress the deterioration ratio of the light emitting spot diameter 13 to 50%, the width of the phosphor film strip 11 is needed to be 1/2 or less than the electron beam diameter 14. Meanwhile, since strain due to optical system is generated, the image should be strained analogously for correction, and to eliminate the optical strain in the periphery part of the image the width 11 of the phosphor film stripe is needed to be 1/5 or less than the electron beam diameter 14. This problem is also solved by making the registration (partitioning) structure of the phosphor film be a strip structure. Since black stripes are formed in a reticular screen of projection plane, the resolution in the perpendicular direction is kept by setting stripes at right angle to the former stripes. To make the perpendicular resolution high, dot shape is preferable.
