    • A method of and an apparatus for identifying a system which allow a filter coefficient to be updated accurately even if noise is mixed. The apparatus for identifying a system includes an adaptive filter for processing a reference input signal to produce an output signal, a subtractor for subtracting the output signal of the adaptive filter from an observed signal, a power estimating circuit for estimating the power of the reference input signal, and a step size determining circuit for determining a step size based on the estimated power of the reference input signal. The step size determining circuit generates a step size according to a function of the power of the reference input signal which monotonously increases if the power of the reference input signal is smaller than a threshold and monotonously decreases if the power of the reference input signal is greater than the threshold.

    • A multi-channel echo canceler for canceling echo generated as a result of propagation of 2-channel received signals, along a spatial acoustical path via a first and a second loudspeaker, from a transmitted signal containing a speech source signal received through a first and a second microphone and the echo. The echo canceler is capable of highly accurate delay time difference estimation and also of quick detection of the movement or change of the talker. Right after the movement or change of the talker, the filter coefficient set updating is stopped, or step size is updated. Deterioration of the echo cancellation performance does not occur that might otherwise result from delay of the detection of the movement or change of the talker or reduction of estimated delay time difference.

    • There is a need for improving the accuracy of estimating a gain error for an angular velocity sensor. An error estimation section and a correction section are provided as well as a gyroscope that detects an angular velocity of a vehicle. The error estimation section assumes the gain error of the gyroscope to be a state quantity and finds an estimated value for the gain error using a Kalman filter. Based on the gain error found by the error estimation section, the correction section corrects a gain correction amount used for gain correction of values detected by the gyroscope. The correction section corrects the gain correction amount dedicated to right turn based on the gain error found by the error estimation section when the vehicle is assumed to turn right. The correction section corrects the gain correction amount dedicated to left turn based on the gain error found by the error estimation section when the vehicle is assumed to turn left.

    • A rotary actuator has a cushion mechanism for stopping a vane at a rotational terminal end position in a cushioning manner. The cushion mechanism has first and second openings. The first opening discharges an exhaust air pressed out from a cylinder hole by a rotating vane to an external portion without limiting a flow amount.
