    • A low rolling resistance tire for vehicles includes a carcass structure, a belt structure coaxially extending around the carcass structure, and a tread coaxially extending around the belt structure and being externally provided with a rolling surface designed to contact the ground. The tread includes a vulcanized polymer base having at least a first silica-based reinforcing filler. The first silica-based reinforcing filler has an average projected area of aggregates, measured before incorporation into the polymer base, lower the 20,000 nm2, a dispersion index in the polymer base not lower than 97%, and an average projected area of the aggregates, measured after incorporation into the polymer base, between 8,500 nm2 and 18,000 nm2.

    • A method for calculating a μ-slippage curve for a tire based on laboratory data derived from characteristic values of a used compound, of the road surface and a vehicle without producing a complete tire, and a method for calculating a μ-slippage curve for a tire include the steps: calculating a friction force between rubber compound and a rough surface based on a friction coefficient for different slippage values and lateral positions of the tire wherein the friction coefficient is calculated depending on a sliding velocity between the rough surface and a tread block and on a temperature of the tire. After calculating the friction force, the motion of a tread block depending on pressure distribution during the movement of the tread block through the contact area and on characteristics of a tire body is calculated. The resulting μ-slippage curve is composed from effective μ-slippage values for different slippage values wherein effective μ-slippage values are calculated based on the friction force and a nominal force derived from the pressure distribution.

    • An elastomeric composition includes at least one diene elastomeric polymer, at least one salt or oxide of a transition metal belonging to groups IIIA, IVA, VA, VIA, VIIA, or VIIIA of the Periodic Table, at least one vulcanization accelerator, sulphur or derivatives thereof, and at least one reinforcing filler. The elastomeric composition is substantially free of zinc or derivatives thereof.
