    • Disclosed are a system and a method for detecting a multi-view human face. The system comprises an input device configured to input image data; a hybrid classifier including a non-human-face rejection classifier configured to roughly detect non-human-face image data and plural angle tag classifiers configured to add an angle tag into the image data having a human face; and plural cascade angle classifiers. Each of the plural cascade angle classifiers corresponds to a human face angle. One of the plural cascade angle classifiers receives the image data with the angle tag output from the corresponding angle tag classifier, and further detects whether the received image data with the angle tag includes the human face.

    • The invention provides the use of silicon particles as redox catalyst, an electrochemical device and method thereof. As electrocatalyst, the silicon particles catalyze a redox reaction such as oxidization of the redox reactant such as renewable fuels e.g. methanol, ethanol and glucose. The device such as a fuel cell comprises a redox reactant and a catalytic composition comprising silicon nanoparticles. The silicon particles catalyze the redox reaction on an electrode such as anode in the device. In preferred embodiments, the electrocatalysis is dramatically improved under low illuminance such as in darkness. The invention can be widely used in applications related to for example a fuel cell, a sensor, an electrochemical reactor, and a memory.

    • The automatic search intent mining technique described herein pertains to a technique for mining search intent from a group of queries. The automatic search intent mining technique described herein automatically mines search intents from a group of queries. The technique leverages knowledge of query log data in order to determine search intent. The automatic search intent mining technique, in one embodiment, utilizes three kinds of information sources: Web page content, Web page structure and search engine query log data to mine intents for a group of queries. In one embodiment of the technique, the three data sources are used separately to mine candidate search intents for each of the three sources. The candidate search intents extracted from each of the three sources are then integrated to form the final search intents.

    • A high CRI white light emitting device comprises: a blue solid state light emitter (LED) operable to generate blue light; a phosphor material operable to absorb a portion of the blue light and to emit green/yellow light and a red solid state light emitter (LED) operable to generate red light. The emission product of the device comprises the combined light generated by the blue and red LEDs and green/yellow light generated by the phosphor material and appears white in color. The device further comprises a drive circuit operable to compensate for variation in the ratio (relative contribution) of red to blue light in the emission product such as to ensure that said variation is less than 20% over an operating temperature range of at least 25° C. The drive circuit can reduce variation in the CRI and CCT of the device's emission product over the operating temperature range.
