    • Disclosed is an electric switching device for monitoring the operation of a hydraulic brake system for automotive vehicles of the type including a brake slip control device. The electric switching device includes a first switch for switching the brake slip control device on and off, a second switch operating a warning lamp, a third switch for controlling a hydraulic pressure pump and a pressure responsive actuating element for actuating the switches dependent on the state of pressure on the brake system. Improved reliability is provided for by including functional redundancy of the first switch into the circuitry including a diode connecting a make type first switch to a break type second switch whereupon the brake slip controller circuit is grounded upon a fault condition in the controller circuit to prevent false signals from reaching the controller.

    • A braking pressure generator for slip-controlled brake systems of automotive vehicles comprises dynamic (III) and static (I, II) pressure fluid circuits into which pressure fluid from the dynamic circuit (III) is metered during braking with slip control. A differential pressure pilot valve (4) is provided which compares the pressure in a booster chamber (15) of the hydraulic circuit (III) with the pressure in a prechamber (5) into which pressure is metered during braking with slip control. The differential pressure pilot valve (4) is connected to an alarm switch (9). The switching position of this alarm switch is logically combined with the switching position of a brake-actuating switch (8) and with the brake slip control signal (10) and an error signal is derived therefrom.

    • A slip-controlled brake system for motor vehicles is provided with at least one static brake circuit (17, 18) into which, in the event of control, pressure medium can be fed from a dynamic pressure medium circuit through a control valve.     • To monitor and control hydraulic brake slip control devices supplied with energy from an external source and intended for use on motor vehicles equipped with several brake circuits, a check is kept on the fluid level in the reservoir holding the hydraulic fluid and on the pressure in the chambers supplied with the external energy. When the fluid level drops, which is detected by a reservoir level warning device, or when the pressure drops causing pressure warning switches to respond, the brake slip control will be only partially deactivated initially by halting the reduction in pressure in the static brake circuits and inhibiting the dynamic fluid flow into the static brake circuits. The dynamic brake circuit will continue to allow a controlled deceleration of the connected wheels. The partial deactivation will be initiated immediately or with a time delay or only if the error signals continue to be present beyond a predetermined period of time. Depending on the duration of the error signals or following the lapse of a predetermined period of time, the brake slip control will be deactivated fully or, if the error signals cease, the partial deactivation will be cancelled.

In order to prevent an abrupt movement of the positioning piston upon pressurization the positioning piston is constructed as a stepped piston whose smaller diameter is sealed with respect to the housing and having a piston step which in combination with the seal between the smaller diameter portion of the positioning piston and the housing annular chamber with a volume which is dependent on the pedal travel. The annular chamber has a throttling connection to the front surface of the positioning piston pressurized in case of slip control, which throttling connection has a check valve which opens towards the annular chamber.

    • An antiskid control arrangement of a hydraulic vehicle braking system includes a master cylinder device and a throttling valve device arranged between the master cylinder device and the brake pedal. The throttling valve device is incorporated in a circulating circuit which includes a hydraulic pump operated exclusively during antiskid control operation. During normal braking operation without antiskid control action, the braking system operates in a static manner. During antiskid control braking operation, the drive of the hydraulic pump is energized while the throttling valve device remains closed until the dynamic pressure generated by the hydraulic pump has risen to the level to the static pressure then prevailing in the working compartments of the master cylinder device. Thereafter, the throttling valve device opens to relieve excess pressure. The pressurized hydraulic fluid from the auxiliary energy source is fed from the secondary side to the working side of the master piston to operate the wheel brake actuating cylinders in a dynamic manner during the antiskid control operation. An annular positioning piston is provided which becomes effective only during operation in the antiskid control mode as an abutment for the throttling valve so that the brake pedal is brought into a defined position during the antiskid control operation. A shutoff valve which is controlled in response to the movement of the positioning piston is interposed in the return conduit and prevents escape of hydraulic fluid from the master cylinder device when the hydraulic pump is out of operation.
