    • A liquid crystal projection display capable of functioning at a high light capturing efficiency and a high relative corner illuminance comprises a light source means including a light source, a liquid crystal panel means, a projection lens means and a screen means. A liquid lens formed by sealing a liquid in a space between opposite transparent members is disposed near the light source or the real image of the light source to enhance the relative corner illuminance without reducing the light capturing efficiency by multiplying the angle of divergence of light rays emitted by the light source by the reciprocal of the refractive index of the liquid. A first optical system disposed on the entrance side of the liquid crystal panel is provided with a relative corner illuminance enhancing means comprising a first light converging means disposed relatively near to the light source means, and a second light converging means disposed relatively remote from the light source means. The first light converging means enhances the relative corner illuminance on the entrance surface of the second light converging means.

A shift redundancy circuit is provided for each of the memory blocks, for connecting the main row or column select line and the sub row or column select line. The shift redundancy circuit includes a switch circuit for connecting one main row or column select line to one of the plurality of adjacent sub row or column select lines, and a circuit for setting a connection path of the switch circuit. The shift redundancy circuit connects successively adjacent sub row or column select lines to main row or column select lines in one to one correspondence except a defective sub row or column select line associated with a defective bit.

    • A grinding unit 5 comprises grinding wheel 20, a driving device 22 for driving the grinding wheel, and a shifting device 23. The rail frame 7 is tilted in opposite directions with respect to the axis of the work roll between when the grinding unit 5 is positioned to grind one end side of the work roll 1a and when it is positioned to grind the other end side thereof. In an on-line roll grinding apparatus, vibration from the work roll is absorbed to enable precise grinding with good roughness of the roll surface without giving rise to any chattering marks, and one work roll can be ground by a single grinding unit up to both roll ends.
