    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, in which actual maximum in-cylinder pressure in occurrence of preignition can be calculated accurately, even if an in-cylinder pressure sensor is deteriorated, by using a relation which is common before and after the deterioration of the in-cylinder pressure sensor.SOLUTION: A control device for an internal combustion engine stores: first normal maximum in-cylinder pressure measured by an in-cylinder pressure sensor before deterioration during normal combustion under a predetermined operating state; and a second normal maximum in-cylinder pressure measured by the in-cylinder pressure sensor after deterioration. In the case where preignition occurs in the predetermined operating state, a pressure ratio is calculated between second preignition maximum in-cylinder pressure measured by the in-cylinder pressure sensor after deterioration and the second normal maximum in-cylinder pressure. Based on the first normal maximum in-cylinder pressure and the pressure ratio, first preignition maximum in-cylinder pressure, which is actual maximum in-cylinder pressure in the occurrence of preignition, is calculated.
