    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve moving mechanism of an internal combustion engine provided with an adjuster support members having an oil supply path producing a reduced pressure loss without deteriorating the weight balance of the adjuster support members supporting a hydraulic adjusters.
      SOLUTION: The valve moving mechanism is provided with the adjuster support members 40 including an adjuster holders 42 respectively provided at four corners with adjuster insertion holes 46a to 46d supporting hydraulic lash adjusters 38 in each cylinder, connection portions 44 connecting the adjuster holders 42 therebetween and oil supply path 48 formed so as to allow the oil to pass sequentially one-by-one through all insertion holes 46 in each of adjuster holders 42 from the adjuster hole 42#1 positioned at one end to the adjuster hole 42#4 positioned at other end. The connection oil paths 52 inside the connection portions 44 are formed so as to linearly connect the insertion hole 46 for an air intake valve 18 and the insertion hole 46 for an exhaust valve 22 to each other between the adjuster holders 42 adjacent to each other.

      SOLUTION: In shock absorbing structure of a vehicle V mounting an engine 10 thereon, a water pump 15 is disposed on a side of an engine main body 14, and at least a part of a housing 21 of the water pump 15 is made of material which can be broken by a collision load in the collision of the vehicle. The impact load can break parts 22, 23 made of the material in the collision of the vehicle. Therefore, the crush stroke can be secured by the length of the parts 22, 23 so as to improve the safety against collision.

      SOLUTION: In this impact absorbing structure for a vehicle V in which an engine 10 is transversely arranged at a vehicle front part, an intake system member 15 is protruded from an engine body 14 to the vehicle front side, and an auxiliary machine 22 is mounted to the intake system member 15. A fragile part 35 capable of being broken down by a collision load at the vehicle collision is provided in the intake system member 15 in a section L at least from a mounting part 36 of the auxiliary machine 22 to the engine body 14. At the vehicle head-on collision, the fragile part 35 is broken down due to the collision load, and at the same time, the auxiliary machine 22 can be dropped out. Therefore, the crash stroke can be secured only by the longitudinal length of the broken-down/dropped-out portions, and against the collision safety can be enhanced.

The support has an end surface opposed to the bottom surface of the cylinder block 2 in which a cooling water path WJ is provided. A protrusion P is formed on one of the end surface F1 of the support and the bottom face F2 of the cylinder block which are opposite to each other. The other one of the end surface and the bottom surface is provided with a hole Q in which the protrusion fits. The protrusion can slide in the hole without coming out from the hole when the variable compression ratio mechanism moves the cylinder block relative to the crankcase.
