摘要： For a reel cutter, particularly in the paper industry, optimal cutting planes are determined using mathematical methods. This is done by breaking the process down into individual steps, where, first, a continuous solution of the linear optimization problem is found using a known multiplication method. Then, variables are sought and defined with regard to their limits. By defining a so-called "search tree", successive steps can be taken and these process steps repeated until the variables are whole numbers. An acccessory device comprises a programmable digital computer consisting of the usual components which is programmed according to the stated process and thus defines suitable means for operation of the reel cutter (100).
