摘要： A direct current to direct current (DCDC) voltage converter is described comprising a controller and at least one converter circuit. The converter circuit comprises at least first and second inductors, each having an input and an output; a first input switch connected to the input of the first inductor; a second input switch connected to the input of the second inductor; and an output switch connected to the outputs of the inductors for selectively combining the outputs to form a parallel combination of the inductors or a series combination of the inductors. The controller generates signals for selectively connecting the first and second input switches and the output circuit between a pair of power supply input terminals and a pair of power supply output terminals. In response to appropriate signals from the controller, the converter circuit can be operated as a buck converter or a boost converter.

A plurality of electrically conductive pads are arranged in spaced apart relationship relative to each other on the substrate surface. A first winding is defined by a first electrically conductive path between a first input and a first output, the first electrically conductive path including at least one wire connected between at least one first pad pair of the electrically conductive pads. At least one electrically conductive pad of each first pad pair is at the substrate surface. A,second winding is defined by a second electrically conductive path between a second input and a second output, the second electrically conductive path including at least one wire connected between at least one second pad pair of the electrically conductive pads. At least one electrically conductive pad of each second pad pair is at the substrate surface. The first and second electrically conductive paths are proximal each other to achieve a magnetic field coupling between the first and second windings so as to form a transformer.

摘要： A novel method and apparatus for defining process variation in a digital RF processor (DRP). The invention is well suited for use in highly integrated system on a chip (SoC) radio solutions that incorporate a very large amount of digital logic circuitry. The method and apparatus provide direct measurement of fabrication process variation in circuits without requiring any additional test equipment by utilizing a time to digital converter (TDC) circuit already present in the chip. The TDC circuit relies on the time delay in an inverter chain to sample a high speed CKV clock using a slow FREF clock. Calculation of inverse time provides a direct correlation for fabrication process variation in each die.

摘要： A novel apparatus for and a method of estimating, calibrating and tracking in real-time the gain of a radio frequency (RF) digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) in an all-digital phase locked loop (ADPLL). Precise setting of the inverse DCO gain in the ADPLL modulating path allows direct wideband frequency modulation that is independent of the ADPLL loop bandwidth. The gain calibration technique is based on a steepest descent iterative algorithm wherein the phase ADPLL error is sampled and correlated with the modulating data to generate a gradient. The gradient is then scaled and added to the current value of the DCO gain multiplier.

A preferred embodiment comprises a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) configured to generate an output signal at a frequency that is dependent upon a magnitude of an input voltage level and an effective inductance of an inductive load and a variable inductor coupled to the VCO. The variable inductor comprises a primary inductor coupled to the VCO to produce a magnetic field based upon a current flowing through the primary inductor and a secondary inductor magnetically coupled to the primary inductor, the secondary inductor to affect the magnitude of the effective inductance of the primary inductor.
