    • A method of thermoluminescent dosimetry employing infrared radiation heating of a dosimeter. An incandescent lamp is used for the source of infrared radiation. The dosimeter is provided with a infrared radiation absorbing layer connected thermally to a thermoluminescent material layer. The infrared radiation absorbing layer is irradiated with infrared radiation, so that thermoluminescent material is not directly irradiated. The lamp is initially powered whereby the dosimeter is heated by infrared radiation of such high intensity as to tend to cause a heat equilibrium in the dosimeter above the temperature where thermal radiation is generated from the dosimeter. Then the power supplied to the lamp is cut or decreased, so that the dosimeter is heated by the afterglow of the lamp. Therefore the rate of temperature rise of the dosimeter becomes quite slow in the latter half of heating process, whereby the temperature of dosimeter easily falls into the required range.

    • A shift control apparatus that disconnects and connects respective pairs of friction engagement elements during downshift to a speed spaced apart by two or more steps through an intermediate shift speed. A shift controller controls a hydraulic pressure of a second shift release element by feedback control, and in accordance with the increase in the torque capacity of the second shift release element, also controls the torque capacity of a first shift engagement element so as to be sufficiently higher than the amount of change in the torque capacity of the second shift release element. The occurrence of adverse consequences in which a shift shock is generated is effectively suppressed because a sufficient reaction force cannot be ensured during engagement switching due to insufficient torque capacity of the first shift engagement element, and since the second shift release element cannot be appropriately feedback-controlled, difficulty in control of rotation change results.

    • In order to prevent destruction of a read gate by excessive storage of charge without any addition or change to the manufacturing process, the array type X-ray detection apparatus using a direct conversion system, which directly converts irradiation X-rays to charge, provides each pixel cell with a sensor section for converting X-rays to an amount of charge according to the amount of X-rays, a charge collecting electrode for storing the charge generated, a read gate for transferring the stored charge to an external read amplifier and a MIS diode using a TFT. A clamp signal is applied to one end of the MIS diode. The read gate and MIS diode are formed in the same manufacturing process. Since the amount of charge stored in the charge collecting electrode is clamped to the amount of charge corresponding to the clamp signal voltage by the MIS diode, the read gate is not destroyed even with excessive X-ray irradiation. Furthermore, instead of the MIS diode, a cutoff voltage control circuit and a cutoff gate using a TFT connected to the cutoff voltage control circuit are provided. When the output of the charge storage capacitor exceeds a cutoff voltage, the cutoff gate interrupts the inflow of charge to the charge storage capacitor to suppress further increase of output, thus preventing the read gate from being destroyed.

When the time tST to the detected start of the rotational speed change &ohgr;S′ is too small, it is determined that, while the piston has been advanced properly, the target engagement pressure PTA in torque phase control is too low because of a miscalculation, and the shift control is corrected so that the target engagement pressure is raised.
