    • In a method for the spatial allocation of information (1,2) referring to one location ("A8, motorway exit Pasing") in a terminal unit (8), the information is transmitted (7) from an information provider (6) to the terminal unit (8) together with its assigned location co-ordinate data (3) concerning the geographic co-ordinates (geographic length and width) of the location, and with supplementary location data (4,5 ="A8"). In the terminal unit (8) the allocation of the information (1,2) to a location takes place: on the basis of a comparison of the location co-ordinate data (3) which is transmitted along with the information, and the location co-ordinate data in a reference data file in the terminal unit; and on the basis of a comparison (12, 14, 18) of the supplementary location data (4,5) which is transmitted along with the information (1,2), and supplementary location data in the reference file (10) in the terminal unit (8). By this method, and by a terminal unit, efficient and reliable location-referencing of the information transmitted from an information provider to the terminal unit is possible.
