    • A section of a webbing between a takeup shaft and an occupant fastened portion thereof is guided around a roller pivotally supported on a rotatable plate, and the rotatable plate adapted to be rotated by an increased tension of the webbing is caused to approach a lock bar to clamp the webbing between the roller and the lock bar, whereby the movement of the webbing in the longitudinal direction thereof is prevented, so that an occupant can be restrained. The roller is prevented from rotating by lock means when the occupant is restrained, whereby the webbing is decreased in tension at the portion of the roller, so that an abrupt change in tension at the clamped portion of the webbing between the roller and the lock bar can be prevented, thereby enabling to avoid breakage of the webbing.

    • The webbing slider lock mechanism according to the present invention comprises: a slider movably received in a sliding groove of a guide rail laid in a vehicle and connected to an end of an occupant restraining webbing; a driving member movably received in a driving groove of the guide rail and connected to the slider in a manner to be movable by a given length relative to the slider in a direction of travel of the slider; a release arm disposed in a manner to be projectable into the driving groove at the side of a retracting end portion of the guide rail in a biased condition and adapted to abut against the side portion of the driving member to be pushed out of the driving groove; and a locking lever disposed below the position of the release arm at the side of retracting end portion of the guide rail in a manner to be projectable to lock the slider and connected to the release arm in a manner to be retractable from the sliding groove.

    • According to the present invention, in a seatbelt system, in which an end of an occupant restraining webbing is connected to a slider and this slider travels along a guide rail laid on a vehicle body so as to cause the webbing to approach or recede from the body of an occupant, the slider includes: a head; a body suspended from a central portion in cross-section of the head and inserted through a driving tape; and a leg extended from the lower end of the body and secured with an anchor plate, to which the webbing is connected, and the guide rail includes: a substantially letter `T` shaped sliding groove consisting of a head groove portion for slidably guiding the head of slider and a body groove portion for slidably guiding the body of slider; and a tape groove perpendicularly intersecting the body groove portion of the sliding groove for receiving and guiding the driving tape.

    • A seatbelt system which includes an anchor plate which anchors one under the passenger restraining belt and which is fastened to a runner piece which moves along a guide rail fastened to a motor vehicle body. When the anchor plate receives a driving force, the anchor plate moves along the guide rail so that the belt is automatically fastened about the passenger. The seatbelt system is further arranged and configured such that a belt anchoring portion of the anchor plate and a portion of the runner piece that is directly supported by the guide rail are both provided on a straight line which coincides with the line of action of belt tension during a vehicular emergency whereby belt tension is securely supported by the guide rail.
