    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel that keeps high flatness and uniformity in the alignment property of a liquid crystal by using a partial surface treatment with atmospheric plasma. SOLUTION: The process of manufacturing a liquid crystal panel comprises: forming a polyimide film 92 to be an alignment layer over the entire surface of a transparent glass substrate 90 on which a transparent electrode 91 is formed; placing a mask 77 to separate a part of the alignment layer corresponding to the position of the terminal section of the transparent electrode from other part; generating gas discharge between an electrode 78 and the alignment layer under atmospheric or near atmospheric pressure to produce excited active species of a predetermined gas by the gas discharge; and selectively exposing a part of the alignment layer to the excited active species to remove the layer.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively manufacture a color filter of which the transparent electrode is scarcely disconnected and which is highly reliable by utilizing partial surface processing based on atmospheric plasma. SOLUTION: In manufacturing the color filter of a liquid crystal panel which is composed of a transparent glass substrate 71, a coloring layer 72 formed thereon, a transparent protective film 75, and a transparent electrode 82; a mask 77 is arranged in such a way that peripheral sections of the transparent protective layer corresponding to positions of terminal portions of the transparent electrode are partitioned from other sections of the transparent protective layer. Gas discharge is generated between an electrode 78 and the transparent protective layer under atmospheric pressure and under the pressure in the vicinity thereof. An excited and activated predetermined gas is generated with the gas discharge and the peripheral sections of the transparent protective layer is selectively exposed to the excited and activated gas and removed.     • PURPOSE:To prevent the influence of the presence of a color filter layer formed as the thinner type than the conventional color filter layer produced by using the pigments alone at the time of driving a liquid crystal by further dispersing conductive materials into this color filter layer, thereby lowering the resistance of the color filter layer. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode 12 having transparent electrodes 13 of a prescribed shape and a counter electrode 14 are diagonally immersed into an electrolyte 11. The point B where the counter electrode 14 intersects with the electrolyte surface is required to exist always on the left side of the uppermost end A where the color filter layer is ought to be formed. The reason thereof is to uniformalize the amt. of the conductive particulates to be taken into the color filter layer within the plane of the color filter layer when the conductive particulates in the electrolyte 11 settle at a specified speed and the color filter layer is formed. Namely, the color filter layer is the film deposited with org. pigment particles and, therefore, the porous film structure having the many gaps among the particles is obtd. Then, the intrusion of the conductive particulates into these gaps is possible. The resistance of an insulator or the org. pigment layer having the electric resistance approximate to the electric resistance of the insulator is lowered.

    • PURPOSE:To inexpensively obtain a polymer dispersed liquid crystal display which can make a multicolored display by dissolving dichroic pigments which have different spectral characteristics in >=2 kinds of high polymer dispersed liquid crystal which differ in driving voltage. CONSTITUTION:For a liquid crystal display using high polymer dispersed liquid crystal, the orientation of liquid crystal molecules in small nematic liquid crystal spherical drops dispersed in a high polymer is varied with an electric field and matched with refractive index modulation and a polymer matrix refractive index. The current driving voltage of a liquid crystal display body varies according to the property of the polymer, the size and shape of liquid crystal particles. etc. After the dichroic pigments having different spectral characteristics are dissolved in >=2 kinds of high polymer dispersed liquid crystal differing in driving voltage, the high polymer dispersed liquid crystal is mixed at an optional ratio and used. Consequently, a difference in the rising potential of the high polymer dispersed liquid crystal with the diameter and shape of liquid crystal particles is utilized to obtain the inexpensive, multicolor liquid crystal display.
