    • A power converter is disclosed which is used for converting an a.c. power to a d.c. power or vice versa, and which comprises a first converter unit operated at a variable control angle with phase advanced to an input a.c. source voltage, and a second converter unit operated at a variable control angle with phase lagged to the input a.c. source voltage and having a d.c. side terminal connected in series to that of the first converter unit. At least one additional converter unit having a d.c. side terminal connected in seriesto those of the first and second converter units is further provided in accordance with the invention. The additional converter unit is operated at its bypass mode or a fixed control angle corresponding to the maximum forward or reverse conversion limit. The power converter of the above-mentioned construction enables its output level to be controlled continuously over a wider range without degrading its electric property than the conventional power converter.

    • A motor with a stator and a rotor in which the stator consists of a plurality of divided members. The motor comprises: a pair of magnetic pole cores having poles composing two mutually opposite sides of the stator and arms extending in both directions from the poles, the poles being wound with windings; and yoke cores arranged between mutually opposite arms of the magnetic pole cores formed at both ends of the yoke cores. The curved portions which are proximate to the arms of the above-mentioned magnetic pole cores are formed at both ends of the yoke cores. The dividing of the stator allows the workability to wind windings on the poles to be improved, and the blanking of the yoke cores within the width of the magnetic pole cores allows the yield of to be improved, whereby reducing the costs. A method of manufacturing the motor is also disclosed.

    • An electrophotographic copying machine having an editorial function includes an original table formed on the top surface of a main unit, and an original is placed thereon while facing upward. A shaft is installed in the vicinity of one end of the top surface of the main unit, and this shaft supports rotatably an optical system for scanning the original so as to be able to contact with or part from the original table. A transparent tablet is placed between the original and the optical system, and this table works in cooperation with a write pen. After placing the original, an operator puts the tablet thereon and operates the pen to specify the position of the original intended to be edited. Responsively, the positional data thereof is outputted from the tablet. In a trimming mode or a masking mode, LEDs constituting a partial eraser are lighted in response to the positional data, and an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum is modified. In a centering mode, paper feed timing is controlled in response to the positional data.
