摘要： A data relay and information processing method including storing in a database section identification information for identifying language-dependent data and replacement data corresponding to the language-dependent data in association with each other, receiving server data from the server system, detecting the replacement data from the database section on the basis of the identification information contained in the server data, replacing the language-dependent data as contained in the server data by the replacement data, and transmitting the server data as replaced to a client system. Thus, even in the case where the language used in the server system providing a service on the Internet is different from the language used in the client system, it is possible to recognize the information from the server by the client with reference to the replacement data.

摘要： A method and a system for displaying multimedia data including video data. A display of video data and related information are controlled according to a movement of a pointing selection marker, a type of related information, or a distribution of pointing selection possible regions over frames of video data. Linked related information can be displayed in synchronization with a progress of a display of the video data. Information indicating a presence/absence of pointing selection possible region for currently displayed video data can also be displayed. A useful information can be obtained by collecting a statistical information on the desired positions specified by the user's pointing selection inputs. Each frame of video data can be partitioned and related information can be provided in correspondence to partitioned parts of each frame.

摘要： The encoded contents of a piece of delivered information is accompanied by an applicable time data indicating a specific time period for authorizing a particular mode of utilization. When a request for utilizing the contents is issued in an information utilization apparatus, it determines if the current time agrees with the time authorizing the requested utilization by referring to the time data annexed to the encoded contents. If the request is acceptable at the current time, a set of processing steps is carried out for decoding the encoded contents and other necessary operations. Thus, an information access control method can be adapted to have flexibility in setting charges and access requirements for the contents of information that can change the value and the mode of utilization with time.

In the system, the primary data which are filing target to be stored and retrieved are stored in a first memory while secondary information associated with the primary data, which are not directly related with data content of the primary data, are stored in a second memory in correspondence to the primary data stored in the first memory. Then, when a retrieval key specifying a desired retrieval of the primary data from the first memory is entered, the secondary information is selected from the second memory in accordance with the retrieval key, and the primary data corresponding to the secondary information selected in accordance with the retrieval key is retrieved and outputted as a retrieval result.
