    • A multiplex communication system for an automobile which achieves low-power-consumption operation of a plurality of child stations. The system includes a parent station having a judging element to judge whether a communication mode of the system corresponds to one of a normal communication mode and a low-power-consumption mode; at least a child station having a detection unit for detecting that the supply of power to the child station has commenced to produce a power-supply detection signal, and a compulsory condition changing unit for changing a present operation condition of the child station to a low-power-consumption state in response to the power-supply detection signal; and a communication line for connecting the parent station and the child station. In the disclosed embodiment, the judging unit judges that the present communication mode corresponds to the normal communication mode and sets operation conditions of the child station and the parent station to normal operation conditions so as to perform a communication between the child station and the parent station. Alternatively, the judging unit judges that the present communication mode corresponds to the low-power-consumption communication mode and sets operation conditions of the child station to a low-power-consumption operation condition.

    • An automobile multiplex data communication system includes: a plurality of child stations; a parent station for controlling a multiplex data communication established with the plurality of child stations; and a signal transmission path for mutually connecting the parent station with said plurality of child stations. The parent station is arranged by a storage unit for storing data about a condition-stabilizing time period specific to the operation member, defined by a time duration after the operation member has been manipulated until an operation condition becomes a stable condition; a first operation-condition detecting unit for detecting at least two successive operation conditions of the operation member connected to the communication unit of each child station to produce first and second operation-condition detection data; a condition-change detecting unit for detecting a change in at least the two successive operation conditions of the operation member; a second operation-condition detecting unit for detecting another operation conditions of said operation member after the operation condition change has been detected by the operation-change detecting unit and when the operation-stabilizing time period specific to the operation member has elapsed, thereby producing third operation-condition detection data free from an adverse influence caused by a chattering phenomenon of the operation member; a setting unit for setting a drive instruction of the terminal unit based upon the third operation-condition detection data; and a transmission unit for transmitting the drive instruction to the child station with the operation member whose operation condition has been detected as the third-condition detection data.

    • An apparatus for driving an actuator loaded on an automotive vehicle in accordance with ON-OFF operation of an operation switch includes: an operation switch; an input circuit activated by operation of the operation switch for driving the actuator; an input detecting section for detecting whether the input circuit is in an activated or deactivated status; a storing section for storing the detected status of the input circuit; a comparing section for comparing a present status of the input circuit newly detected by the input detecting section with a previous status of the input circuit stored in the storing section; an informing section for providing external information indicative of a mismatch between the present status and the previous status of the input circuit on the basis of comparison results of the comparing section; and a stored status updating section for updating the previous status stored in the storing section on the basis of the newly detected present status after the present status and the previous status have been compared with each other. When the operation switch is operated to the ON-state, if the informing section does not provide external mismatch information the apparatus thus indicates that at least one of the operation switch and the input circuit is operating abnormally, while if the informing section does provide the external mismatch information, the apparatus is indicating that both the operation switch and the input circuit are operating normally.

    • A seat discomfort preventive device includes: a seat back capable of inclining in the fore-and-aft direction; a seat cushion capable of inclining in the fore-and-aft direction; a rocking control unit; and a drive mechanism for rocking at least one of the seat back and the seat cushion. The rocking control unit delivers a control signal in response to a start signal. In accordance with this control signal, the drive mechanism repeatedly rocks at least one of the seat back and the seat cushion with respect to a standard position depending on a sense of discomfort. The rocking control unit may include an inclining control unit. Additionally, a foot plate on which the feet of a passenger are rested is attached to the seat cushion.
