In an electric machine, the distance between a mounting substrate and an upper substrate thereof or a shield case, or the distance between the mounting substrate and other electric components which are mounted adjacently is becoming smaller in association with the miniaturization. When such a mounting substrate of electric machine is mounted with conventional electric component, the following problems may occur: the upper substrate or the shield case may be in contact with the terminal formed on an upper surface of the electric component, so that short circuit occurs between the electric component and the upper substrate or the shield case, or the terminals of the adjacent electric components may be in contact with each other, so that short circuit occurs between the electric components. Moreover, solder may enter the interior via the gap between the terminal and an insulating film and the Sn or Sn alloy plating, thereby damaging the insulating film and deteriorate insulation properties. The electric component of the present invention has a body having built-in circuit element in the interior thereof, and terminals formed on the body. The terminals are formed in a manner of crossing an end surface of the body and a surface adjacent to the end surface. The body is formed with an insulating film covering the terminals. Besides, the terminals are exposed from the insulating film at least at a mounting surface of the body, and a coating film containing Sn is formed on a part of the terminals exposed from the insulating film.
