PURPOSE: To improve a vibration control characteristic by arranging a vibration control member, which can support almost all the weight of an object to be controlled, just below the center of gravity of the object to be controlled or in its vicinity actually. CONSTITUTION: A vibration control device consists of a large air spring 3 arranged right below the center of gravity position CG of an object 2 to be controlled such as a surface plate and small air springs 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D arranged at four corners of the object 2 to be controlled. As the large air spring 3 on which a precision machine 5 is placed supports almost all the weight of the object 2 to be controlled, an upper limit of the weight of the object 2 to be controlled is set to 80% of supporting force of the large air spring 3 while its lower limit is set to 30% of that. In this way, rotational couple of force due to vertical vibration can be reduced, and as a result, rotational vibration in a supporting system can be prevented.
