PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attract an armature at appropriate timing by generating sufficient magnetic flux quickly with less power consumption in the yoke, in an electromagnetic actuator where a coil is housed in the coil storage groove of the yoke.
SOLUTION: The electromagnetic actuator attracts the armature 3 by forming coil storage grooves 68a and 69a in the yoke 70, and exciting the coil 71 stored in the coil storage grooves 68a and 69a, thereby generating the magnetic flux in the yoke 70. The growth of the magnetic flux of the yoke 70 is accelerated by so arranging a layer short plate 72 as to block the coil storage grooves 68a and 69a on the topside of the coil 71, thus it can attract the armature 73 with appropriate timing by generating the sufficient magnetic flux quickly in the yoke 70 without using a high-voltage power source and without quickening the voltage application timing to the coil 71.
