PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper applying ruler capable of simply and certainly positioning by easily moving on a table surface of a surface plate. SOLUTION: The paper applying ruler 1 is constituted such that a magnet base of which one end is turnably supported to a bottom part of a ruler body 2 and which is provided with a magnet on a lower surface is arranged at both sides in a longitudinal direction of the ruler and the magnet base is turned to a standing direction by interlocking with pressing down of an attraction release button 8 provided at an approximate center of the ruler body 2. Accordingly, the attraction force (magnetic force) of the magnet applied between the magnet and the surface plate is made sufficiently small by turning the magnet base to the standing direction by pressing down the attraction release button 8 and retaining the magnet base in the state of keeping a predetermined angle against the table surface of the surface plate. Thereby, the paper applying ruler 1 can be easily moved on the table surface of the surface plate and the positioning of the paper applying ruler 1 can be simply and certainly carried out.
