Siphon bottles.-The object of the invention is to simplify the construction of siphon heads, and to prevent the liquid from coming into contact with metal. The head is made up of a metal tube a, Fig. 2, which is screwed on to a split ring c, and of a rubber washer e, which rests on the top of the bottle b, and upon the upper side of which rest both the flanged upper end of the tube d and a block f of earthenware or the like, which has the nozzle g made in one with it and has a central passage h and a groove j at the top. The nozzle g projects through a slot in the tube a. On the upper side of the block f lies a washer k, which acts as a valve, and is normally pressed down by a spring n acting on a plunger m, the whole being held in place by a cap o which is screwed on to the top of the tube a. The valve is opened by a lever p, which passes through a slot in the cap, is fulcrumed on the edge of a ring l, and is engaged with a slot in the plunger n. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the valve washer k is operated by a rotating cap q, which turns a screw r working in a fixed nut in the cap a' and having its end resting on the washer k. Inside the cap q are springs s, Fig. 6, which tend to bring it back again when released and thus close the valve k.
