摘要： Techniques for making content available to a DVR are described. Content encoded in any encoding format may be automatically transcoded, on a computer, into an encoding format that a DVR is configured to decode. The transcoded content is automatically sent over a LAN from the computer to the DVR. The DVR receives the transcoded content, stores the transcoded content, and indicates, through a user interface, that the content is available for viewing. A transcoding agent executing on the computer may automatically and periodically transcode, into an encoding format that the DVR is configured to decode, content that is contained in one folder, and move the transcoded content from that folder into another folder. The computer may send, to the DVR, instructions which cause the DVR to request transcoded content that is in the latter folder. The computer sends transcoded content to the DVR in response to such a request.

摘要： Video luminance data from a video signal is selectably compressed and expanded in a first signal path including a first line memory (356). A second line memory (358) in a parallel signal path processes video chrominance data from the video signal. A control circuit (320) generates respective timing signals for writing data into the line memories and for reading data from the line memories. A timing delay circuit (337) for the control means, has video compression and expansion modes of operation. During the compression mode, reading of the second line memory is delayed relative to writing of the second line memory. During said expansion mode, writing of the first line memory is delayed relative to writing of the second line memory or reading of the second line memory is delayed relative to writing of the second line memory. The duration of the timing delays can be selected from a range of values. The line memories are first in first out (FIFO) devices having independently enabled write and read ports.

摘要： A receiver-compatible enhanced definition television (EDTV) system wherein a non-compatible production video signal is separated into plural frequency groups (20). The components of one of the frequency groups contain NTSC compatible video information and another group contains enhancement information. A combiner (32) embeds the enhancement information into quantized (28) members of the one group to produce a modified group. Members of the modified group are combined (38) with nonquantized members of the one group to generate a receiver-compatible signal which can be displayed on a standard receiver, or it can be decoded and displayed on a non-standard (EDTV) receiver.

摘要： A system capable of transmitting and receiving high frequency video signals across various lengths of a twisted pair cable while maintaining video quality is presented. The system includes a transmitter and a receiver tandem coupled together over twisted pair cable. Each video component is mixed with a reference signal in the transmitter and driven differentially onto the twisted pair cable. Upon detection of a signal in the twisted pair cable, the receiver adjusts its internal gains until the known characteristic of the reference signal is achieved. The receiver then automatically adjusts the skew & DC offset. Thus, the receiver is able to automatically measure the degradation in video quality and appropriately compensate the video signals for the accumulated degradation caused primarily by the transmission between the transmitter and the receiver. The compensated video may subsequently be provided to a video display device.

摘要： A system and method are described that provide television content broadcast system subscribers with convenient access to aggregated web feed content. In one embodiment, a television content broadcast system (20) maintains a database (21 ) linking one or more particular subscribers with one or more sources of web feed content. The television content broadcast system (20) downloads web feed content for a subscriber from the one or more sources associated with the subscriber, either at the user's request or to a cache (22). The television content broadcast system (20) sends the downloaded web feed content through a web content interface (30(2)) to a television receiver (41 ), or through a web content interface (30(3)) to a local memory (51 ) in a set- top box (50). In another embodiment, the television content broadcast subscribers also have accounts on a web content aggregation system (10). Web content aggregation system (10) retrieves web feed content associated with the user, and sends the web feed content to television content broadcast system (20) for forwarding to the appropriate subscriber.

摘要： The integrative video signal switching device of the invention comprises video input ports, video output ports, and a video converting unit group. The number of the video input ports is M, and the number of the video output ports is N, wherein M and N are both natural numbers, and at least one of them is equal to or more than 2. 摘要： In a digital TV broadcast system, an embedded multiresolution scheme implementing joint source/channel coding is employed to offer at least relatively fine (317) and relatively coarse resolution (311) services. The relatively fine resolution service is intended for receivers within a first radius (Rf) of a TV signal transmitter and the relatively coarse resolution service is intended for receivers between the first radius and a second, longer radius (Rc) thereof. Video signals broadcast from the transmitter represent individual signal points which are selected from a signal constellation. The latter comprises signal-point groups each including a multiplicity of the signal points. The selected signal points represent video images in the relatively fine resolution, while the signal-point groups from which the selected signal points originate represent the relatively coarse version of the images.

摘要： A system and method for transmitting still images and a video feed from an unmanned aerial vehicle to a ground station is disclosed. The system includes an aircraft including a digital camera to capture still and video images of an object. A video encoder is coupled to the camera to provide a video output including video packets. A file server is coupled to the camera to provide an image output including image data packets. A multiplexer is coupled to the video and still image output. The multiplexer produces a data transmission including video and image data packets. A transmitter sends the data transmission to the ground station. The ground station receives the data transmission and demultiplexes the packets into separate video and image data packets. The ground control station may select the ratio the video stream images in relation to the still image to be transmitted from the aircraft.
