    • One embodiment of a method for calibrating a test color measurement device in conjunction with an emissive display includes measuring initial spectral sensitivities of at least four channels of the test color measurement device, linearly regressing the spectral sensitivities to a least-square best fit to CIE color matching functions, measuring CIE tristimulus values of test colors on the display using a reference color measurement device, measuring the CIE tristimulus values on the display using the test color measurement device, transforming the CIE tristimulus values measured by the test color measurement device to CIE tristimulus values that would have been measured by the reference color measurement device, using a nonlinear function with variable fitting coefficients, and storing initial fitting coefficient values that provide a least-square best fit of the CIE tristimulus values measured by the test color measurement device and the CIE tristimulus values measured by the reference color measurement device.

    • A beam index cathode ray tube comprises a screen, an electron gun assembly, a yoke, and an image processor. The screen includes an alternating pattern of first, second, and third luminescent elements. The first second and third luminescent elements are arranged in triads. Each of the triads has one of each of the first, second, and third luminescent elements. The electron gun assembly directs first, second, and third electron beams toward the screen. The first, second, and third electron beams have an intensity controlled by an image processor. The yoke is arranged between the electron gun assembly and the screen. The yoke deflects the first, second, and third electron beams according to an algorithm generated by the image processor. Each of the first, second, and third electron beams is simultaneously deflected to the first luminescent element of either a single triad or multiple triads.

    • The invention is related to a cathode ray tube of the index type wherein the tracking structure allows the type to be used in progressive scan mode. The tracking structure comprises tracking elements (16,18) of a first kind and a second kind for generating a first response signal (S1) and a second response signal (S2), respectively, when hit by an electron beam of the tube, the first and the second response signals for determination of a positioning signal, and the tracking elements (16,18) extending parallel to the phosphor elements (20,20',20") whereby each phosphor element is flanked on either side by a tracking element of the first kind (16) and a tracking element of the second kind (18), respectively, except for each phosphor element of the third (B) color (2040") of each third set (330), whereby each side of said phosphor element of the third (B) color is flanked by tracking elements of the same kind. This tracking structure has the advantage that the index tube has no noticeable flicker if operated in interlaced scan mode.

    • The present invention relates to a tracking picture tube of the type in which comb-shaped electrodes or optical detecting means (22, 23) are used for generating a signal relative to the position of electron beams (9r, 9g, 9b) deflected onto phosphor strips (5r, 5g, 5b). The tube is characterized in that a first peripheral (uppermost) strip (5r) of said group of adjacent strips borders only finger portions (24a, 24b) of the first detecting means (22) in said pair of detecting means, and a second peripheral (lowermost) strip (5b) of said group of adjacent strips borders only finger portions (25a, 25b) of the second electrode (23) in said pair of detecting means. This configuration ensures improved tracking of the beams with respect to the centrally located phosphor strip.
