    • The invention concerns a motor power supply with a DC intermediary circuit (7) arranged between an inverter (8) connected to the motor (3) and a DC voltage source (6), the motor power supply having a control unit (10) with an input connected to the DC intermediary circuit (7). With a motor power supply of this kind it is possible to further improve the efficiency of a motor-compressor unit (2), driven by the motor (3). For this purpose the DC voltage source (6) is controlled by the control unit (10), and the control unit (10) sets the product of intermediary circuit current and intermediary circuit voltage at a value close to or at the lowest possible value.

The use of a read-only memory (16) permits virtually simultaneous firing of two phases and flexible adaptation to different modes of operation of the device.

The system is intended to reduce the power consumption when the three-phase asynchronous motors operate with the medium load, a reduced load or zero load; in other words the motor will consume at any time the energy necessary as a function of its efficiency and the load to which it is subjected.

    • A power factor control system (100) for an A.C. induction motor (106) determines the difference in phase between the voltage applied to the motor (106) and the current drawn by the motor (106). Based upon this difference in phase, an integrator (178) generates an error signal. The error signal is compared with a ramp wave to derive a pulse signal which controls the voltage applied to the motor (106), which in turn controls the amount of current supplied to the motor (106), in order to reduce the power consumed by the motor (106). The integrator (178) includes a dual-path feedback filter (192) having a polarized capacitor in each path. A power supply (110) is used to quickly provide the full operating bias voltages required by several of the components contained in the control system (100).
