摘要： A switched reluctance motor (10), having a stator (20) with poles (24) defining a gap (28) between adjacent stator poles (24). Windings (32a, 32b) for two phases are wound about the stator poles (24) such that windings (32a, 32b) and stator poles (24) of one phase are circumferentially separated by a winding and an associated stator pole (24) of the other phase. Each phase has a positive and negative terminal (114) energizing the respective windings (32a, 32b) of a phase. A rotor element (40) having a plurality of spaced apart rotor poles (44), is mounted for rotation relative to the stator (20). The motor poles (44) are dimensioned such that energization of one of the phases causes a predetermined angular rotation of the rotor (40). Conductive elements (72, 74, 76, 78) are rotatable with the rotor (40) and are electrically connected to the positive and negative terminals (114) of the phase windings. Power leads (82, 84) connected to an electrical power source (150) engage the conductive elements (72, 74, 76, 78) to alternately energize the first phase and second phase during rotation.

摘要： A superconducting generator includes an annular armature connectable to rotate with a rotating component of a wind turbine. A stationary annular field winding is coaxial to the armature and separated by a gap from the armature. The field winding includes superconducting coils, and there is a non-rotating support for the field winding. The non- rotating support is a torque tube. The torque tube is a member formed of a composite material, or a member formed of a plurality of segmented sections, a space frame or strut torque carrying assembly. The torque tube is connected to a thermal shield casing or a field winding housing.

摘要： A low inductance electrical alternator or motor (1) with low armature inductance is disclosed. Arrangements of complementary armature windings (40) are presented in which the fluxes induced by currents in the armature windings (40) effectively cancel leading to low magnetic energy storage within the machine (1). This leads to low net flux levels, low core losses, low inductance and reduced tendency toward magnetic saturation. Separately excited field arrangements are disclosed that allow rotor motion to effect brushless alternator or brushless motor operation. An exemplary geometry includes a stator (2) including two toroidal rings (4, 6) and a concentric field coil (8) together with a rotor structure (22, 24, 25) separated from the stator (2) by four air gaps (54, 56). An alternate embodiment allows for counter-rotation of two rotor elements (24) for use as a flywheel energy storage system in which the external gyroscopic effects cancel.
