    • The present invention relates to a message or greeting system for use particularly in the production of greeting cards. The invention includes the provision of at least one greeting card having integrally mounted thereto an Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (14) (ideally an OTPROM) and a connector (12) for the purpose of functionally connecting the greeting card to a recording unit. The recording unit for use in combination with the greeting card comprises a microphone (10) connected to a voice record chip (4), a memory means (5) and a connector for enabling the unit to be connected to the greeting card so that a message or greeting passing by the microphone to the voice record chip can be stored on the recording unit memory means prior to transfer, via the connector, to the OTPROM of the greeting card. Using the apparatus of the invention a user is, therefore, able to record a given message or greeting in a card or package at the site of purchase using a recording unit, also available at the site of purchase, in accordance with the invention.
