    • A system for providing motion picture photographic film (20) with encoded information, such as unique film footage and frame identification, which can be machine read prior to film processing. This system provides machine readable encoded information markings (B) on the raw stock film which may be read in a camera or other photoprocessing device with a reader prior to or concurrent with the film image capture process. The machine readable encoded information markings may be easily converted into a "video image" for display in a real time video from a CCD imager in the film camera or other device. Furthermore this pre-processing machine readable encoded information may be used in conjunction with optical latent image recorded information which becomes machine or human readable after processing as presently provided by film manufacturer's according to industry standards.

    • This invention discloses a lithographic plate comprising on a roughened substrate a substantially conformal radiation-sensitive layer. The radiation-sensitive layer can be a photo hardenable or photo solubilizable layer, or can be a laser ablatble layer. The radiation-sensitive layer is substantially conformally coated on the roughened substrate surface in a way so that the surface of the radiation-sensitive layer has peaks and valleys substantially corresponding to the major peaks and valleys of the substrate microscopic surface. The lithographic plate of such a configuration can provide no or low tackiness and excellent block resistance, while allowing excellent press durability. For on-press developable lithographic plate, such a plate configuration also allows excellent on-press developability.

    • A method of making motion picture release-print film, such as 35 mm film. The film has an enlarged frame that occupies substantially the entire width of the film that is available for the exposure of images, and the spacing between frames is minimized. Film having these enlarged frames provides an enhanced image with a minimum of film waste. Aspect ratios of 1.85:1 and 2.01:1 in the enlarged frame size are contemplated in three and four perforation formats. A digital soundtrack or other appropriate soundtrack replaces the analog soundtrack that occupies a portion of the available width. The soundtrack may provide for redundancy.
