    • A gamma ray imaging system generates and displays an image signal which is representative of an image of a gamma ray emitting source. The imaging system is particularly well suited for use in all phases of the nuclear power industry, as well as in the field of nuclear medicine. The preferred embodiment of the gamma ray imaging system basically includes a coded mask (4) for receiving radiation emitted by a source and generating a coded shadow therefrom, a position sensitive detector (10) situated with respect to the coded mask to allow the coded shadow to impinge on the detector, the detector generating a coded optical signal in response thereto, an array of charge coupled devices (12) being responsive to the coded optical signal and generating a coded electrical signal in response thereto and a signal processor (14) being responsive to the coded electrical signal and decoding the coded electrical signal to generate an image signal which is representative of an image of gamma ray emitting source.

    • The invention relates to an apparatus for measuring the radioactive concentration of a liquid, comprising an outer, vertically oriented cylinder (2) provided with means (5, 6) for supplying liquid to the outer cylinder (2). The liquid flows down through the cylinder (2) along its vertical shaft without being in contact with the inner surface of the cylinder (2). The apparatus is provided with a detector (7) for measuring the radioactivity in said liquid. There are means (3) for supplying a flushing liquid to the inner part of the cylinder (2) in such a manner that the flushing liquid flows downwards and forms a liquid film on the inner surface of the cylinder (2). The invention is characterized in that means (3) comprise at least one supply connection or supply pipe (21a, 21b) for supplying flushing liquid, which discharges somewhat above a column (16a) which runs along the inner surface of the cylinder (2) in order to produce said liquid film.

    • Automatization of the efficiency-tracing method for measuring liquid scintillation. In a conventional efficiency-tracing method, liquid scintillation is measured manually while several measuring conditions are changed, and a radioactivity determination is effected by drawing a graph. In order to overcome these inconveniences, the present invention provides a measuring method and apparatus therefor in which the measurement region of a pulse height analyzer which is determined by a lower limit and an upper limit is automatically set in a liquid-scintillation counter, a data group obtained by measuring the count yield of a standard sample and the count rate of a sample being measured is represented by a regression equation by a data processor, and the radioactivity of the sample being measured is automatically determined from the regression equation. Thus the efficiency-tracing method is extremely easy to perform and its utility is greatly improved.
