    • A method of pre-planning and loading of aircraft before physically loading pallets on the aircraft is disclosed. An identifier (28) is entered into a processor (22) to identify an aircraft to be loaded. Based on the identifier (28), a data file relating to the loading limitations of the aircraft to be loaded is retrieved from the database (30). Data regarding the amount of fuel upon departure is entered, as well as the weights of pallets to be loaded into pallet positions. A user selects a first option for calculating within the processor the optimum location of pallets and pallet positions to obtain the optimum center of gravity balance of the aircraft, or the user selects a second option for determining if the center of gravity of the aircraft based on the entered location of pallets and pallet positions are within the center of gravity limits of the aircraft.

    • An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system, location and method, for operation with a flight management system, has a controlled access UAV zone for at least one of: UAV landing, UAV loading, and UAV take-off. A sensor can be in communication with a control panel and/or a lock to govern access to the UAV zone. The zone can have a barrier with closure secured by the lock, and controlled by a flight management system. Separate access codes can be provided for departure and destination locations, to enable personnel associated with a delivery request to access those locations, to effect delivery of an article. The codes can be generated and supplied when the flight management system receives a valid delivery request.

    • A method for determining the mass of a body is described. The method comprises the application and measurement of a first motive force to the body to move the body in a first state of motion. The acceleration of the body is also measured at this time. This methodology is repeated for a second state of motion. The measured motive forces and accelerations are then used to calculate the mass, and hence the weight of the body. An accelerometer may be employed to measure the accelerations. The methods may be adapted so as to correct for the angle θ of the ground across which the body is moved and or the tilt angle α of the accelerometer relative to the ground. The methods may employ a novel surface angle measuring device that does not require contact with the ground and which does not require the body to be stationary.
