摘要： An open sight for use on weapons such as handguns is introduced. The open sight features two rear aiming marks (5, 6) which are illuminated by an artificial light source mounted in the rear sight (1). A third aiming mark (7) in the front sight (2) is illuminated by a forward- facing light source also mounted in the rear sight (1). The front sight is dimensioned to substantially block the forward directed beam to reduce the visibility of the illumination forward of the weapon.

摘要： Diffraction causes light to bend toward and perpendicular to an object's edge. In a current peep's aperture, diffracted light is neither controlled nor eliminated. In current peeps, diffracted light impairs accuracy, therefore current apertures must be oversized to allow space for the diffracted light. Visual size and shape of current aperture will vary with changes in light diffraction. Slotted peep (22) eliminates detrimental effects of diffracted light from its aperture. By surrounding an open space with the open ends of slots, a space is defined that has virtually no physical edges. Slotted peep (22) confines diffracted light within the slot. The figure shows slotted peep (22), however a user looking through slotted peed (22) sees (20). Light diffracted perpendicular to the edges of the slots darkens the slots. Slotted peep's aperture (20) will be virtually free of diffracted light and will not have the aforementioned shortcomings of current peeps.
