摘要： This invention aims at facilitating machining such as cutting, boring or the like, of high-modulus polyethylene by utilizing thermal properties thereof. In accordance with the method of the present invention, high-modulus polyethylene is heated to a temperature higher than the melting point of crystalline fibrils thereof before machining so that the heated portion of the polyethylene returns to the state before super-drawing and is easy to machine. Accordingly, a fabrication such as cutting, boring or the like can be carried out easily.

摘要： The invention concerns a device for producing preferably patterned textile strips (10') from a wide band (10) of a meltable material, the device comprising a heated cutting member (21) which may consist of an electrically heated wire. In order to develop an economical and compact device, a spring, advantageously a leaf spring, is associated as a pressure member with this heated wire. The leaf spring (22) has an aperture penetrated by the heated wire (21). Althrough the leaf spring (22) itself is not heated, its pressure region passes so close to the wire (21) that this region still acts on the strip edge areas which have been rendered plastic by the cutting process.

摘要： A device for separating a meltable wide strip (10) using fusion cutters (21) which cut the strips (10') during longitudinal movement of said wide strip by melting the strip material. In order to smooth rough melted edges of strips (10') a finishing device is used. A conveyor device is used to transport the wide strip and keeps at least the section (40) to be processed of the strip (10') which is located in the finishing zone, under longitudinal stress. To simplify the design of the device, the finishing device is provided with deviation points (71, 70, 72) in the section (40) to be processed. The deviation points are fixed and include an open slit (25) through which the section (40) to be processed passes. The expansion of the processing section (40) is twisted by virtue of the deviating members (23,33). The longitudinal stress is therefore exerted in such a way that the upper and lower side of the strips (10') are automatically pressed against the deviating members (23,33). This results in an ideal smoothing of rough melted edges.

摘要： The operative part (20) of a device for cutting or welding webs consists of an oscillation generator divided into several sections and comprising a piezo element (21), and a horn radiator which amplifies the sonic energy generated in the oscillation generator (26) and transfers it to the web via the end of the horn (28). To improve efficiency and save space, the horn radiator (26) as per the invention is fixed directly on the piezo element, on the opposite side of which is located only a counter-section (22) of the oscillation generator. These three components are firmly secured together and form a novel combination (20). In this arrangement, the axial length (32) of the counter-section (22) is smaller than or equal to 1/8 of the effective sonic wavelength, while the axial overall length (38) of the combination (20) is smaller than or equal to 3/4 of the sonic wavelength.
