    • A safety device for iron includes a heated soleplate in the lower portion of the iron, a first tilted support surface and a second tilted support surface in the rear portion of the iron. The first tilted support surface is connected with the soleplate and forms a bevel angle, the second tilted support surface separated from the soleplate is connected with the first tilted support surface and forms a bevel angle. The iron is provided with a counterweight whose center of gravity is situated in the rear portion of the iron so that the iron is able to automatically tip into an angled position. The counterweight is a first counterweight block close to the second tilted support. The center of gravity of the iron and the first counterweight block is situated in the rear portion of the first tilted support surface before the iron tipping onto the first tilted surface and in the second tilted support surface while the iron resting on the first surface. The counterweight may be permanent or detachable and is widely applicable. The device is advantageous in the simple structure, the low cost, the convenient operation and the good safety performance.
