摘要： A method of encapsulating hazardous waste materials including heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury, nickel and chromium residues, as well as radioactive materials. The method involves adding the hazardous waste material to a settable composition, forming a slurry, and allowing the slurry to set to encapsulate the waste material. The settable composition is a powdered flowable cement composition containing calcium carbonate and a caustic magnesium oxide. Tests conducted on the encapsulated material indicate that virtually none of the hazardous waste material is leached out of the set composition which has a concrete-like appearance.

The method further comprises: integration of said at least one rotary apparatus into a cement production facility configured to carry out cement production processes, such as burning cement clinker or calcination of raw materials, at temperatures essentially equal to or exceeding 500 degrees Celsius (°C), and conducting an amount of input energy into the at least one rotary apparatus integrated into the heat-consuming process facility, the input energy comprises electrical energy. A rotary apparatus and related uses are further provided.

摘要： According to the present disclosure, a method of producing a hydrated magnesium carbonate based cement composite (HMCs) is provided. The method comprising providing an aqueous solution comprising a hydration agent and hydrated magnesium carbonate seed particles; contacting the aqueous solution with a magnesium oxide based cement to form magnesium hydroxide from the hydration agent and the magnesium oxide based cement, and on the hydrated magnesium carbonate seed particles; and exposing the magnesium hydroxide to carbon dioxide to form the hydrated magnesium carbonate based cement composite. The use of hydration agent and seed particles not not only increases formation of HMCs but also improves the mechanical performance of RMC based concrete formulations.
