摘要： A process (10) for the production of VCI 4 includes suspending a solid particulate oxygen-free vanadium compound starting material in a liquid reaction medium to form a reaction mixture, and reacting the oxygen-free vanadium compound starting material suspended in the liquid reaction medium with a chlorinating agent (18) to produce liquid VCI 4 . The liquid reaction medium in the reaction mixture is maintained at a reaction temperature above its normal boiling point and the oxygen-free compound starting material and the chlorinating agent are reacted at a reaction pressure higher than the vapour pressure of the liquid reaction medium at the reaction temperature of the process so that the reaction mixture does not boil.

摘要： A refractory which is prepared by forming a refractory material composition comprising a refractory material comprising graphite particles having an average particle diameter of 500 nm or less or a refractory material comprising graphite particles obtained by graphitizing carbon black and a refractory aggregate; or a refractory which is prepared by forming a refractory material composition comprising a carbonaceous particles (A) having a DBP absorption (x) of 80 ml/100 g or more selected from carbon black and graphite particles obtained by graphitizing carbon black, a carbonaceous particles (B) having a DBP absorption (x) of less than 80 ml/100 g selected from carbon black and graphite particles obtained by graphitizing carbon black, and a refractory aggregate. The refractory provides a carbon-containing refractory, in particular, the one having a reduced content of carbon, which is excellent in the resistance to corrosion, oxidation and thermal shock.
