    • The invention relates to a process for producing transfer printing papers for thermally applying colourful images, letters and/or decorations on objects, especially of ceramics or glass, which retain their shape at high temperatures, in which the printable ceramic colouring pigments are transferred to the transfer printing paper in the rotagravure process and the colour pigments are kept in homogenous distribution in the release substrate before their transfer to the rotogravure cylinder. According to the invention, use is made, with the application of the usual cup depth for rotogravure, but in the region of 20 to 60 mu m, of ceramic colour pigments in which the proportion of glass particles, at least in the non-red pigments, is reduced as against the previously usual proportion. Only this process ensures the reproducibility of the images, etc., during the firing or heating of the objects, and their optimally brilliant quality.

    • A method of printing a composite image on a material (1), the composite image comprising two or more image parts (8A, 8B, 8C, 8D) provided by two or more printing elements. Each printing element carries an image part (8A, 8B, 8C, 8D) of the composite image to be printed and each image part (8A, 8B, 8C, 8D) has a respective repeat length (Ra, Rb, Rc, Rd). The repeat lengths (Ra, Rb, Rc, Rd) are independently different from each other, whereby each image part (8A, 8B, 8C, 8D) is repeatedly printed at its own repeat length (Ra, Rb, Rc, Rd).
