摘要： A ribbon cartridge (130) includes a cartridge housing (300), a supply spool (122), a take-up spool (124), and a supply of ribbon. The cartridge housing includes a supply spool enclosure (302), a take-up spool enclosure (304), a pair of ribbon guides (340) and (342), and a gap (126) between the ribbon guides and the supply and take-up spool enclosures. The supply spool is contained in the supply spool enclosure, and the take-up spool is contained in the take-up spool enclosure. The ribbon (120) extends from the supply spool, over the ribbon guides and the gap, and to the take-up spool. 摘要： A composition and method for fabricating high-density Ta-Al-O, Ta-Si-N, and W-Si-N sputtering targets, having particular usefulness for the sputtering of heater layers for ink jet printers. Compositions in accordance with the invention comprise a metal component, Si3N4, and a sintering aid so that the targets will successfully sputter without cracking, etc. The components are combined in powder form and pressure consolidated under heated conditions for a time sufficient to form a consolidated blend having an actual density of greater that about 95% of the theoretical density. The consolidated blend may then be machined so as to provide the final desired target shape.

摘要： A platen assembly for a printer includes a chassis to which there is mounted a printhead and a pair of bearing moldings supported by the chassis and movable toward and away from the printhead. A platen body (83) is rotatably mounted between the bearing moldings and includes a platen surface (78) extending therealong, a capping device (80) extending therealong and a blotting device (81) also extending therealong. Each device is selectively aligned with the printhead upon rotation of the body between respective angular orientation. The body includes end caps having cam surfaces engageable with a projection affixed to the chassis to cause movement of the bearing members toward and away from the printhead during rotation of the body so that the body does not damage the printhead.

摘要： A method and apparatus is provided for compensating for variable overlap between segments of a page width print head system to reduce visually perceptible artifacts due to misalignment of adjacent overlapped segments. One method employs a summation means which sums a current dither value from a dither matrix with an overlap signal to provide an output value which is then compared in a comparator with an input continuous tone data value providing an output compensated dither value to control nozzles in the overlap region of the segments. Another method uses a software program to provide the compensated dither matrix. A sensing means provides a measure of the degree of overlap of the segments to generate the overlap signal. The sensing means may sense temperature or relative displacement of the segments. The degree of overlap may be determined for various temperatures and stored in a ROM.

摘要： Disclosed are the following: a wide format thermal printer for printing a multicolor graphic product on a printing sheet; a vacuum workbed for supporting a sheet material for performing work operations, such as cutting, printing or plotting, thereon; a replaceable donor sheet assembly, which includes a memory (300), for use with a thermal printer; methods and apparatus for improved thermal printing, including methods and apparatus for conserving donor sheet and reducing the amount of time required to print a multicolor graphic product; a thermal printhead including a memory; and methods and apparatus for the alignment of a sheet material for printing or performing other work operations on the sheet material. The wide format thermal printer can include provision for the automatic loading of cassettes of donor sheet from a cassette storage rack. The vacuum workbed can include provision for determining the size of the sheet material supported by the workbed, and for controlling the suction applied to the apertures in a worksurface of the workbed. Also disclosed are methods and apparatus for controlling the tension of the donor sheet during printing with a wide format thermal printer.
